Evergreen climbing plants are an excellent solution to create a green and decorative environment while covering, at the same time, walls, fences or fences. How to successfully grow evergreen climbing plants and guarantee them fast and lush growth

Growing an evergreen climbing plant is very easy, the only care, however, is to carefully choose both the variety to be planted (it must harmonize with the existing space) and the type of pot used. growth should be too weed, it is necessary to intervene with frequent pruning.
As for watering, about three or four a week are enough (but even less if the soil is still wet). A trick is to look at the leaves at the base: if they are no longer green but tend to turn yellow, then it's time to pour some water.
Climbing plants can also be successfully cultivated in pots, while if they are placed in the ground, care must be taken to cover the base when winter arrives.

  • BIGNONIA CAPENSIS

Bignonia Capensis is a beautiful evergreen plant that grows fast (so much so that it is also used to create hedges) when placed near a support. It produces orange colored flowers during the summer period, however, as it does not like the cold very much, it should be placed in full sun.

  • CAPREOLATA BIGNONIA

Bignonia capreolata resists the cold better than Bignonia Capensis and blooms between May and July. It is a very resistant evergreen plant with a luxuriant and fast growth. There are also the Bignonia Cherere variety which produces very decorative red flowers, the Contessa Sara, whose flowers are pink, and the Bignonia semperflorens which instead makes them white.

  • CLEMATIS

Clematis (from the Clematis family) belongs to a type of climbing plant that is very widespread and loved in gardening because it is easily cultivated and gives beautiful flowers. It has colorful flowers in various shades (they can be pink, purple, white, ...), which contribute and make the Clematis one of the most loved evergreen species. They live well both in pots and in open ground and are able to create a very scenographic shadow effect with their green leaves. Clematis, or Clematis if you prefer, is also a resistant plant with a vigorous crown; the only precaution, however. , is that and its roots must remain in the shade.

  • PASSIFLORA

Passiflora is a decorative and exotic plant that gives beautiful blue flowers. It can be used to create flowered trellises or it can be planted in a large pot to decorate some corner of your garden. Compared to Clematis and Bignonia it is less rustic and more delicate, in fact it fears the cold. Some prefer to grow it indoors, however it always needs plenty of sunlight and well-drained soil. It has glossy dark green leaves that stand out next to colorful flowers, creating an effect much appreciated by gardeners. Passionflower does not. it is very common in our areas, however it has the advantage of being a very special flowering plant.

Jasmine and Ivy: the queens of fast growing evergreen climbing varieties

  • JASMINE

Jasmine, with its glossy green leaves, fragrant white flowers and lush growth habit, is one of the most popular fast growing climbers. Placed in a sufficiently large pot, it can live very well on the terrace or a small balcony. It can also be grown in the home garden (ie in the ground), as long as it is placed in contact with sunlight. The Jasmine, in fact, is a species that does not like the shade very much: the risk is that it does not produce the characteristic white flower much sought after.

  • IVY (Hedera Helix)

Ivy, or Hedera Helix, is probably the most cultivated and loved evergreen climbing plant by gardeners because it grows fast and needs almost no care. It grows so fast that it can reach 30 meters in height and lends itself to being placed anywhere: on the terrace, in the garden, on the balcony, planted in a pot, ... It covers the walls of our cities but must be kept under control because its strong roots can create problems. It is a very rustic species and, although it produces a flower, it is not a climber appreciated for its flowering, but because, being an evergreen, it decorates without too many pretensions. The ivy also loves the shade, therefore it can also be placed in areas where the sun does not shine much.
