Venice Film Festival: here are all the winners
The 71st edition of the Venice Film Festival ended today with the awarding of the Golden Lion for the best film and other prizes. The jury, chaired by the composer Alexandre Desplat, awarded the Golden Lion to the best film a A pigeon sat on a branch, reflecting on existence by the Swedish director Roy Andersson, who on stage paid homage to Vittorio De Sica's bike thieves. The Grand Jury Prize went to Joshua Oppenheimer's film, author of the shock documentary The look of silence, on the massacre of the 1960s in Indonesia, an ideal continuation of its highly acclaimed precedent The act of killing.
Among the other winners of the evening, conducted by the godmother of this edition, Luisa Ranieri, Andrei Konchalovsky received the Silver Lion for best director with The Postman "s White Nights, while on the actors front, the Coppa Volpi for best actor went to Adam Driver for the film Hungry Hearts by Saverio Costanzo, who received the award in place of the actor of Girls, absent from the ceremony. The Volpi Cup for best actress has always remained in the film Hungry Hearts, with its protagonist Alba Rohrwacher, very excited on stage and the only Italian winner in the section of the official competition of this edition. Sivas by Kaan Mujdeci received the Special Jury Prize, while the best screenplay awarded was that of the Iranian film Tales (Ghesseha), the only film in competition directed by a woman.

Among the promises of the cinema of the future, the very young Romain Paul, who appears in Le dernier coup de marteau by Alix Delaporte, was instead awarded as best newcomer with the Marcello Mastroianni Prize. In the collateral section Horizons finally, the Special Jury Prize for the film should be noted Belluscone - A Sicilian story by Franco Maresco, much loved during the Festival, and which we should soon see at the cinema.
