A bit of history

Chromotherapy has very ancient origins, traditional medicines have in fact always attached great importance to the influence of colors on human health and mood.
Egyptians, Romans and Greeks practiced heliotherapy (exposure to direct sunlight) for the treatment of various ailments, in India Ayurvedic medicine has always taken into account how colors affect the balance of the chakras, and even the Chinese entrusted their own well-being to the action of the various colors.

Chromotherapy: how does it work?

Chromotherapy uses colors to help the body and mind find their natural balance.
Like a musical instrument, which must be tuned to have the right intonation and so that the resulting sound is harmonious, in the same way chromotherapy uses chromatic vibrations to restore energy balance.

When a part of the body is exposed to colored irradiation, it absorbs electromagnetic waves characterized by a certain oscillatory frequency. The cells of the body, made up of atoms, enter into vibratory resonance with the frequencies of light waves and rediscover the lost harmony.
The therapeutic effect of color on the human body is therefore linked to the oscillatory nature of colors and our cells: malaise or illness are nothing more than a disharmony of the cellular vibratory rhythm on which the colors have a harmonizing power.

Chromotherapy: how does it happen?

  • Colors can be absorbed by our body in different ways:
  • through light irradiation made with special equipment and filters;
  • through food, i.e. by eating foods with their natural color;
  • through sunlight which includes all colors in its spectrum;
  • through solarized water;
  • through the clothes,
  • through the bathroom, then with waters colored with natural essences or special lights;
  • through meditation, following precise techniques;
  • through visualization and breathing;
  • through massage with special products and colored pigments.

In recent years, chromotherapy has made a comeback and has had a notable development thanks to scientific studies that have highlighted the influence of colors on the nervous, immune and metabolic systems. It must also be said that the efficacy of chromotherapy is contested by a part of the scientific community, as no chromotherapy practice has ever been able to pass a controlled clinical study, and even the assumptions of the theory are considered scientifically inconsistent. Physics mix, art, psychology and medicine, chromotherapy is considered a "gentle therapy" as it is not invasive and unable to create addiction. Alternative medicine, chromotherapy must integrate (and not replace) with other therapies or treatments, in order to enhance the result .
