Can we "plan" the health of our children? Yes, here's how!
During the months of waiting and then in the first two years of life, it is possible to intervene on those processes that influence the health of the baby in the long term.
In fact, it has been discovered that at this stage environmental influences count even more than genetic ones. Nutrition in particular plays a crucial role. The goal then becomes to ensure the baby before and after birth (precisely in its first 1000 days) adequate nutrition for its needs.
Weaning
A good habit is to check his menu daily. If it is necessary to ensure an adequate amount of energy, it is equally important to pay attention to the composition of the diet and the quality of the food.
The little one must be able to gradually introduce all food groups into his diet and get used to the maximum variety. Not adding salt or sugar to baby's dishes is an important habit; thus he will spontaneously learn to savor the authentic taste of food.
But beware, children are very sensitive to toxic substances, and having a low body weight and an organism in formation they are more exposed to these elements than adults.
For this reason, baby food must meet by law much higher safety criteria than those required for adults. This minimizes possible exposure to toxic substances.

This is why "specific" foods are irreplaceable in the first three years
The developmental age, which goes from birth to adolescence, is a delicate moment. A balanced diet contributes to the growth and development of the organism and helps reduce the risk of the onset of numerous diseases in the adult of tomorrow.
Proper nutrition education is decided in the first months of life and is consolidated up to the third year. It must always be remembered that breast milk remains the ideal food and should be used exclusively up to the sixth month.
From the sixth month, always following the instructions of their pediatrician, the newborn is ready for another type of nourishment to supplement the mother's milk. The child's nutritional education begins, in fact, during this phase of life: it is essential to get him used to knowing new tastes and flavors right away, to help him build correct eating habits, which contribute to the health of the future adult.
The specific foods for early childhood, designed specifically for children in the age group from 6 months to three years, guarantee a diet capable of satisfying nutritional needs in accordance with the different stages of growth, in maximum safety.
The legislation on baby food is in fact much more restrictive, in terms of the safety of raw materials, than the general one. Toxic contaminants in food act in all age groups, but are much more dangerous in the first years of life, when the organism grows rapidly and develops from a functional point of view.
This is also why it is important not to fall into the mistake of considering the child as a "little adult" and to offer him the same foods, in small portions.
Instead, this has happened more frequently, especially in recent years, also due to the crisis: many Italian mothers have in fact preferred to save on purchases and opt for a unique diet for the whole family.
