Bokwa: the sport that makes you lose weight with numbers

Sport, presented in Rimini in 2013, arrived in our country after the American success, thanks to its skilful mix of cardio and fun activities.

How Bokwa is born

Bokwa is a discipline born in Los Angeles from the mind of Paul Mavi, an instructor of South African origins, dancer and musician. Paul has created a sport capable of bringing together dance, some movements of kickboxing and kwaito music, typical African music that is in this case revived together with a mix of hip hop and house.

What is it about

Bokwa is based on drawing numbers and letters with your feet while you train to the sound of music; therefore it is not a discipline with real choreographies, because in this case there are no steps. The music sets the pace and that's it. Unlike other fitness dances such as Zumba, Bokwa gives much more freedom to those who practice it; you just need to know how to read and feel like struggling.

It is an easy sport to practice; the difficulty only increases when the speed is increased. Practiced slowly and gradually, it is a discipline for everyone, even for the little ones.

Does Bokwa make you lose weight?

Paul Mavi assures that Bokwa is capable of burning up to 1200 calories per session, so yes, it is a sport that can make you lose weight. Obviously physical exercise, as always, must be combined with proper nutrition.

If you are afraid, however, of being exhausted after a Bokwa class, you are wrong: the dance and the fun will make you euphoric even after consuming so much energy.
