WhatsApp is now a recurring protagonist in divorce cases

Used by 600 million users around the world, the WhatsApp instant messaging service, recently acquired by Facebook, is present on over 80% of smartphones in Italy.

It is therefore easy to understand how this has become a tool capable of making communications easier and more immediate, with implications that also lead to interpersonal relationships, and marriage specifically.
According to data from the Marriage Lawyers Association, WhatsApp is cited in 40% of Italian divorce cases as proof of the partner's infidelity. While it is true that infidels have always existed, it is also true that new technologies make it easier on the one hand to get to know potential lovers and maintain multiple relationships at the same time, on the other hand it is easier to identify any betrayals.

“Social media have encouraged extra-marital relationships in Italy by making them easier; first through messages, then through Facebook and now also with WhatsApp " , commented Gian Ettore Gassani, president of the Association of Marriage Lawyers. "My message to adulterers is 'be careful', because just as it has made betrayal easier, WhatsApp also makes it easily identifiable".

So be careful what you write and the files you send (photos, videos…): one day they could be used against you in front of the judge!
