Intimate itching in women is classified as vulvar or vaginal itching and is generally caused by infection, irritation or erroneous habits.
In the first place, infections can be bacterial or bacterial in nature and occur when the bacterial flora that protects the intimate parts undergoes an alteration. However, it is possible that the intimate itch is not caused by infections, but by simple irritations due to less invasive factors. These include poor intimate hygiene, allergic reactions, the use of synthetic or too tight underwear and atrophic vaginitis. The latter is an inflammation of the vaginal mucosa caused by a decrease in estrogen which leads to dryness, itching and pain. during sexual intercourse. Vaginitis often occurs after menopause but also after breastfeeding or the use of drugs to treat endometriosis or chemotherapy.
Intimate itching in men: the main causes
As mentioned in the beginning, intimate itching is not common only among women. On the contrary, men also suffer from it and the causes can be different.
It could be fungal infections, often caused by Tinea Cruris or from Candida Albicans; they attack the skin in the groin area and cause intense and continuous itching, redness and burning.
