Microshading: what it is
Microshading, also called powder brows or pixel brows, is a treatment for eyebrow care that in recent years is literally depopulating in the beauty sector. It is a form of semi-permanent make-up designed to thicken the eyebrow arch and consists of giving the illusion that the eyebrows are full, using natural shadows. The final effect, in fact, is very reminiscent of the shade of an eyeshadow, although far more defined. The microshading is carried out with the aid of an instrument at the end of which there is a very fine needle with which the pigment is released on the most superficial part of the dermis. The tip of the needle draws small dots which, being quite close together, will give the impression of a single swipe of color, following the precepts of pointillism in art. Therefore, stopping on the surface, the technique used to achieve the pigmentation of the eyebrows through microshading is not at all invasive. Instead, as regards the chromatic intensity, this depends on the natural shade of the client and the final effect to be obtained.

As we said earlier, microshading is an innovative technique aimed at filling the "holes" in the eyebrows due to excessive tweezers, aging or other diseases such as alopecia. Through the use of a digital device better known as a dermograph, the empty areas between the eyebrow hair are filled with small points that compensate for the absence of hair through color. To undergo this treatment, it is necessary to go to a qualified beauty center where you can rely on the expert hands of trained staff. The duration of the session varies according to the conditions in which the eyebrows of the woman or man who undergo it are poured and usually the intervention consists of the following steps: first of all a preparatory drawing is made to refer to during the release of the pigment, then, using tweezers, the excess hair is removed. The specialist then dyes the voids with liquid synthetic pigments and leaves the color in place to be absorbed. Once the treatment is completed, a specific cream is applied to the eyebrows. moisturize the area and, finally, the client is provided with all the necessary information regarding the post microshading period. These instructions must be followed strictly in order to avoid compromising the effect.

Is microshading painful?
When we talk about semi-permanent make-up or treatments such as microshading, carried out with the use of a needle, a question always arises: "does it hurt?". The answer is not unique, but rather subjective. It all depends on the degree of tolerance one has of pain. In general, we can say that the technique for the pigmentation of the eyebrows through microshading is very delicate and, limiting itself to the correction of the most superficial layer of the skin, does not involve excessive pain if not a slight, completely bearable discomfort. It should also be considered that this treatment is particularly suitable for the most sensitive skin.
How long does it last
The microshading does not end in the course of a single session, but must be resumed after 4/6 weeks. Using a resorbable pigment, the effect is not permanent, but lasts from 8 to 18 months depending on the type of skin of those who use it. In general, the tattoo lasts longer on a face with dry skin, since oily skin tends to discharge the color first due to excess sebum. By virtue of this, after the first intervention, once a year it is recommended to carry out a retouching session.

The healing period following the microshading is short and does not involve major obligations, other than a series of instructions that should be followed if you want to maintain the effect over time. First, you need to stay away for at least 15 days from the pool, sun, and facial treatments such as peeling. Immediately after the treatment, it is necessary to apply special emollient creams on the eyebrows and possibly a moisturizing mask based on macadamia oil. A valid ally in the post microshading period lies in chlorhexidine, a disinfectant with soothing properties to decongest the affected area. In general, if a few days have passed since the surgery, use sunscreen every time you leave the house during the day.

To whom it is recommended
A treatment such as microshading is especially recommended for those who want to have thicker and more marked eyebrows with a better structured shape. Most women undergo it who, over the years, have exaggerated with tweezers or who have lost hair due to advancing age or, in some cases, due to disorders such as alopecia. The microshading is suitable for all skins, especially for those with combination or oily skin as these guarantee greater absorption of the pigment.

Microshading vs Microblading: what changes
Microblading and microshading are two eyebrow-focused treatments that are often mistakenly associated and confused with each other when, in reality, they are totally distinct. But what is the difference between one and the other? What changes is first of all the technique with which they are carried out: microblading uses a needle that releases the pigment in correspondence with each single hair and not only where the eyebrow is thinner. The final effect should also be distinguished: in both cases the eyebrow arch appears tidy and well defined, but the outcome of the microblading is much more similar to a tattoo, while the microshading is more nuanced. Another substantial difference consists in the duration: if on the one hand the microshading lasts from 8 to 18 months, the microblading lasts about 4 weeks. Considering this last aspect, it goes without saying that between one treatment and another there is a significant difference in price: the cost of microblading is around 250/450 euros, while, as seen above, that of microshading goes from a minimum of 450 euros to a maximum of 650.
