Frigidity
Absence of pleasure
Contrary to popular belief, frigidity does not indicate the lack of desire, but the absence of pleasure during the sexual act. Put simply: a frigid person does not experience any sensation of pleasure at the time of penetration and, in some rare cases, not even through masturbation. Frigidity may already be present at the beginning of sexual life (frigidity primary or total) or appear later (frigidity secondary or partial) and particularly affects women, although there is also a very rare male frigidity. Here we will speak only of female frigidity.
Not to be confused with:
- vaginismus: penetration is made difficult or even impossible by an involuntary contraction of the pelvic muscles
- dyspareunia: penetration is painful due to the presence of wounds or scars
- anorgasmia: the woman feels pleasure but cannot reach orgasm. Anogarsmia is more widespread than frigidity, but it often tends to be confused.
-afanisi: disappearance of desire. We must not forget that often frigidity also leads to a decrease in desire: to have the desire to make love, in fact, the sexual act must be a source of physical pleasure.
A few statistics:
It seems that 10% of women suffer from frigidity and do not feel any pleasure during sexual intercourse, while 30% of women complain of not reaching orgasm with penetration but only through masturbation. These data bring us back to the eternal dilemma of clitoral or vaginal orgasm.
The causes
Frigidity can be due to various factors, of a physical or psychological nature:
- a traumatic episode during childhood
- a rigid education that has repressed sexuality
-a lack of self-esteem
- a brutal or clumsy partner
- absence of feelings for the partner
- a malformation or dysfunction of the genital organs
- hormonal fluctuations due to taking a contraceptive or an irregularity in the menstrual cycle
- taking antidepressants, sleeping pills ...
- some diseases
The solutions
The proposed solutions depend on the causes of the problem, so we suggest you consult your doctor or your gynecologist who will be able to advise you, especially if the disorder is of a physical nature.
If, as is more frequent, frigidity is linked to a psychological malaise, it will be necessary to identify the causes through individual therapy and then try to overcome them by becoming aware of oneself and one's sensuality.
Herbal medicine uses the infusion of some herbs, such as sage, which seem to be able to reactivate the pleasure centers.
For women who have lost all physical sensitivity, there is also the possibility of performing hyaluronic acid injections, which allow to swell the G-spot and increase its sensitivity. It is a fairly recent technique that still raises many doubts.
