A special mask for women who are victims of domestic violence
"Stay home", what has become the watchword of the last two months, for many women - unfortunately - is not a reassuring invitation. In 2019, the State Police prepared a report with alarming data: in Italy, 88 women are victims of violence every day and 40 cases of femicide. The situation predictably worsened during the lockdown period, as reported by Amnesty International. During the quarantine, in fact, many women are forced to live 24 hours a day under the same roof with their tormentor and this does nothing but further complicate the already tortuous process of reporting. Some victims even called the anti-violence centers in the shower, the only place where they felt "free" from a condition of constant surveillance.
The latest initiative of the anti-violence centers in collaboration with the Federation of Pharmacists
It is in this regard that the collaboration between the anti-violence centers and the Federation of Pharmacists was born. If a woman needs help, but doesn't know how to ask for it, she just needs to go to the pharmacy and say this sentence: “I want a mask 1522”. A coded message with which the pharmacist will immediately understand the situation and will take action to provide concrete help to the person in danger. 1522 is not a random figure, but the number to call free of charge to report the violence suffered. It will also be possible to activate a chat at the same number if you are unable to speak.
