It is not true that carbohydrates make you fat. Find out why!

In web articles as well as on social networks, supporters of low carbs diets will have told you this hundreds of times: carbohydrates make you fat and are "enemies" of the diet. So, to lose weight you need to limit them as much as possible or eliminate them altogether. But are we really sure that carbohydrates are enemies of the diet? Or are they our allies, the right complement to a balanced and healthy diet?

To find out more, the ambassador Barbara Motolese of Parents Channel scoured the net in search of the truth. And what did he discover? There are many sources on the net that take sides against carbohydrates in the fight against extra pounds. Among others, it is interesting to report the well-known case of the Atkins diet, which was famous for having almost completely eliminated their intake. Of course, faced with such extreme positions, the web contrasts other sources, in defense of the role played by carbohydrates. On the contrary, the latter claim their importance in the context of a healthy and balanced eating style.

But what is the correct point of view? What approach should we take? To understand more and understand the role to be attributed to carbohydrates within a healthy diet, Barbara Motolese relied on the clarifying opinion of an expert. For her, Dr. Luca Piretta, a competent gastroenterologist and nutritionist, answered, confirming that the theory according to which carbohydrates would make you fat is a false myth. According to the expert, in fact, complex carbohydrates can become the basis of nutrition even for those who intend to lose weight. Getting about 60% of energy from carbohydrates means being able to consistently reduce the intake of fats and proteins; but this also means adhering to a healthier eating model because it is depleted of fats and cholesterol.
