Empty wardrobe: off we go

Before starting, take a picture of your closet. Now you are ready to leave all of this behind. The beginning is the first step, the hardest but also the most rewarding. Completely empty the entire wardrobe, remove everything, every hanger and every box. Take advantage of this for a good internal cleaning of the wardrobe and then proceed with the division of the garments. Remember that as for the decluttering of each area of the house, the principle of choosing what to keep and not what to eliminate is always valid: organize 4 distinct areas of the bed and create 4 piles of clothes each corresponding to a group. You can thus become the clothes to throw away (those too badly reduced to think about keeping or donating them), the clothes to donate (which can make a friend happy but that you have not used for more than 12 months), those to keep (they are that you usually wear, that you like, that are fashionable and reflect your style) and finally those to reuse (these are clothes that you do not use because they need to be fixed, widened, tightened or repaired).

The clothes to keep

They are the ones that define your style and your real needs. Take a good look at them and make sure you have used them for the past 12 months. If there is something in this pile of clothes that you want to keep but won't use, it's time to get rid of it. Here, now that you've got rid of everything you don't wear and don't need, it's time to make a whislist of the things you are missing and that you will have to buy in the next shopping sessions. Yay!

The clothes to reuse

With everything you have cataloged as “for reuse” you have to make a decision or you will find them expecting the same next year. Decide to take care of a garment once a week, choose how to rearrange it and get help from a seamstress. It will be like buying something new every week!

The rules of your closet

To order the wardrobe and maintain this painstakingly conquered order, you will need to follow some simple rules. Never closed boxes: if you need to put small items such as underwear, remember that you will have to use open and transparent boxes. Fold everything with great care: store your clothes like you were in a shop, folding everything that can be folded. Maybe even the shirts! You will get more space at your disposal and a more complete overview.
Hang only the outerwear and in general everything that cannot be folded, such as the most delicate fabrics or that are easily wrinkled, skirts and light trousers (jeans are much better folded).
Choose hangers that are all the same in resistant plastic: even the eye wants its part. Then choose a criterion to order the garments in your closet, you can do it by color or by fabric: done? Now you just have to respect it!
Pay the same care to accessories: keep small bags in larger bags and shoes by dividing them by type, high heel, sporty, comfortable and so on.

Now look at the photo taken before starting the decluttering: don't you feel happy?

And the leaders that to be eliminated?

If the items you have removed from your closet are not in bad condition, you can organize a swap party with your friends, donate them to charity, give them to a friend who wears exactly that size or take them to a flea market and earn some money. of money (to be allocated to new shopping, of corse!).
