The app that helps you defend yourself from forms of online violence, such as stalking and bullying, is all Italian. It is called MyTutela and can be downloaded for free on Android and iOS. The mechanism is very simple: you register the number and email address of the person you want to keep monitored as responsible for persecutory and harassing acts and, in doing so, all calls, messages, chats and multimedia files received will be recorded and saved permanently. The archive thus collected becomes indelible and automatically assumes legal value. The App constitutes a fundamental testimony in the trial without the need to use expensive technical and IT expertise.

The term stalking derives from the English verb "to stalk" which means "to lurk" and consists in the repeated persecution of one's victim by a stalker, in fact. The victims of stalking report that they have been threatened, waited, stalked and monitored by their tormentor and feel condemned to live in a state of perennial anxiety and fear. In 80% of cases the stalker is a man, often the victim's partner or ex-partner. This harmful conduct can harm the physical but, above all, psychological safety of the "stalker" person, who, as a result, is forced to change their habits of life, giving up freedom of movement and choice.

The crime of stalking was introduced in Italy in February 2009 and provides for a basic penalty from six months to five years of imprisonment, which can increase if the crime is committed by a person with whom the victim entertains or has entertained a affective relationship or is carried out to the detriment of a minor, a pregnant woman or a disabled person.
