Beer: characteristics and nutritional properties
Beer is that alcoholic drink that we all know, amber, golden or reddish in color, based on fermented cereal malt, which is flavored with hops.
On the market and in small distributions there are many varieties, and they differ in flavor, alcohol content and production method. You may like it or not, but those who drink it often and willingly tend to wonder if it makes you fat.
Due to its non-food connotation and the ever-present alcohol content (except in the case of totally non-alcoholic beers), the answer should be positive, but the truth is that science has delved deeper into the question and in recent years and is came the certainty that beer does not really make you fat, as long as it is drunk in moderation. Let's try to better understand why, starting with the properties of this refreshing golden drink.
Beer shares some characteristics with other typically known drinks, such as wine, cider and some spirits including whiskey, grappa, rum and vodka ... but it has some peculiarities that distinguish it from the others.
The most important and main one is that beer is in fact a solution of water and ethyl alcohol, inside which the malt and some mineral salts are diluted.
Obviously, the fact that it contains variable alcohol, from 3% to about 10%, means that it is classified as a drink that is not suitable for pregnant women and minors, precisely because of the psychological and physiological effects that it can trigger and which are different for each person. per person.

Drinking beer and weight gain, is there a correlation?
Science tells us that when consumed in moderation, beer does not lead to significant weight gain, but when consumption is excessive or daily, then yes, it does make you fat.
It is a substance that our body absolutely does not need, which is not essential for our health and therefore should not be drunk beyond the recommended limits.
Having said that we must break a lance in favor of the golden drink: it is the alcoholic drink that associates the lowest alcohol content with the highest water content (about 93%) and has a low sugar content; that's why it can be less harmful to diabetics and makes us go to the bathroom so much (its diuretic effect is felt on many of us)!
So, in summary, there are pros and cons of drinking beer with friends or over a nice pizza; it's up to you to choose! The key thing is not to drink a lot of it, because in addition to unpleasant effects it tends to make us fat. In our body this is what happens when we drink an alcoholic beverage: the metabolism of fats is suspended, making alcohol (which is usually recognized by our body as a substance to be eliminated, because it is harmful) pass into the foreground and causes a lipid accumulation momentary. So be careful how you drink your favorite drink. No excesses and pay attention to the alcohol + fat combo.
How many calories does a glass of beer contain?
As we have already understood, the consumption of beer is allowed without problems, when it is associated with responsible behavior characterized by zero excesses. But how much does a glass of hops contain in terms of calories? Some of these drinks are not heavy at all, on the contrary, they are much "lighter" to digest than super sugary cocktails, but we often don't pay attention to how many calories we are consuming, especially if we want to stay a bit "on a diet for the summer holidays. and we are in the meal where the sgarro is allowed.
Unfortunately, we have no good news: the beer is caloric if you want to drink a standard bottle. A 33cl bottle can contain between 150 and 300kcal, depending on its malt content, other ingredients (for example, some "special" beers, flavored with honey or citrus fruits) and its alcohol content. A beer is as alcoholic as its calorie content will be. To give you an idea, consider that if you indulge in 2/3 small beers on a night out, you are taking in the same calories that are present in a four-cheese pizza… Not exactly ideal as a cheat in a diet!
If, on the other hand, you only opt for a 100gr glass, then you can be more serene because by estimating a low alcohol content of 3.5%, it drops to 35kcal.With slightly more complex and elaborate types such as double malt, these figures increase but not significantly.
