Incentives for green cars: let's take stock of the situation
Ecobonus means the measure promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development which offers contributions for the purchase of low-emission vehicles, as required by the 2019 Budget Law and subsequent regulatory amendments. The incentive is aimed at those who also purchase the following vehicle categories under finance leases. Check the CO2 emissions of the car you would like to buy. The availability of a car to be scrapped also makes a big difference.
Cars with CO2 emissions from 0 to 60 g / km
First of all, we are talking about cars intended for the transport of people with a maximum of 8 seats (in addition to the driver's seat). For the purchase to be incentivized, it is necessary that they are new, that the CO2 emissions do not exceed 60 g / km, that they have been purchased and registered in Italy in the period from 1 March 2019 to 31 December 2021 and that finally a list price not exceeding 50 thousand euros including optional (excluding VAT). In this case, the incentive amounts to:
€ 8,000 + € 2,000 dealer contribution if CO2 emissions do not exceed 20 g / km if a vehicle of the same category pre-Euro 6 registered before 2011 is scrapped
5,000 euros + 1,000 euros of dealer contribution in the event that the CO2 emissions of the car do not exceed 20 g / km but you do not have a vehicle to be scrapped
4,500 euros + 2,000 euros of dealer contribution in the event that CO2 emissions are between 21 and 60 g / km with scrapping of a vehicle of the same category pre-Euro 6 registered before 2011
2,500 euros + 1,000 euros of dealer contribution in the event that the CO2 emissions are between 21 and 60 g / km but you do not have a vehicle to be scrapped

Cars with CO2 emissions from 61 to 110 g / km
The legislation also encourages the purchase of Euro 6 cars that have CO2 emissions between 61-110 g / km if the vehicles have been purchased and registered starting from 15 August 2020 and the list price does not exceed 40 thousand. euro including optional (excluding VAT). In this case the contribution will be:
1,750 euros with scrapping and 1,000 euros without scrapping if the emissions are included in the 61-90 g / km range
1,500 euros with scrapping and 750 euros without scrapping if the emissions are included in the 91-110 g / km range
Cars with CO2 emissions from 111 to 135 g / km
Recently the legislation has extended the benefit also to cars with CO2 emissions up to 135 g / km, which have been registered starting from 1 January 2021 and until 30 June 2021, if at the same time a vehicle of the same category is scrapped. Euro 6 registered before 2011. The list price of the new vehicle must not exceed 40 thousand euros. In this case, the incentive amounts to:
1,500 euros + 2,000 euros for the reseller's contribution
Commercial and Special Vehicles
Are you interested in buying a camper? So know that the legislation also extends the benefit to commercial and special vehicles (camper, armored vehicle, ambulance, hearse, vehicle with wheelchair access) that are new from the factory, have a total ground mass not exceeding 3.5 tons and have been purchased in Italy from January 1, 2021 to June 30, 2021. In this case, the incentive amounts to:
up to 8,000 euros with scrapping for purchase
Mopeds and motorcycles
Also included in the legislation are mopeds and motorcycles that are brand new, electric or hybrid, and that have been purchased and registered in Italy in the year 2020. In this case, the incentive includes one:
40% discount on the purchase price, up to a maximum of 4,880 euros including VAT, with scrapping
30% discount on the purchase price up to a maximum of 3,660 euros, VAT included, without scrapping.
Are there still funds available?
To date there are still about 49 million for cars in the 61-135 range (out of 250 million initially), 88 million for the 0-60 g / km CO2 range (electric and plug-in hybrids)., 23 million for motorcycles and mopeds. The incentives for commercial and special vehicles have ended, unless they are electric, in this case 7 million are still available.
