Following a detox diet, whether it is 7 or 3 days, is a way to purify the body and, therefore, to feel better. Often, in fact, abdominal swelling or chronic fatigue depend on the type of diet that is followed: a menu too rich in fats, sugars, carbonated drinks or alcohol, is not good for the body. Occasionally, however, following a healthy and purifying diet helps and purify us, eliminate toxins and even lose weight. A detox diet it is mainly based on the consumption of vegetables and fresh fruit, combined with small portions of cereals (preferably whole grains), dried fruit and fish.
An important role is played by liquids. In fact, during a detoxifying menu, you need to drink a lot of water to eliminate accumulated toxins and counteract water retention. Herbal teas are also very beneficial, especially when combined with foods with refreshing and purifying properties such as ginger, mint and fennel.

The benefits of following a 7 day detox diet
You can follow a detox diet for a week, or for longer (15 days) or even just for a few days. The important thing is to purify the body by eating only healthy, fresh, low-fat foods, as well as lots of liquids such as water, juices and herbal teas. The benefits of following this diet are numerous, here are a few:
- It serves to detoxify the body (especially the liver) but gives well-being to the whole organism.
- Makes skin and hair brighter.
- It counteracts water retention and, therefore, cellulite.
- It deflates the legs and reduces abdominal swelling.
- You lose weight (especially liquids) and immediately feel lighter.
- Foods rich in antioxidants, fiber and minerals are consumed.
Although weight loss is not the ultimate goal of a detox diet, it is undeniable that following this regimen leads to weight loss: the important thing is not to overdo it and not to continue this menu for too long.

During a purifying diet there are some foods to avoid in order not to frustrate all efforts. Here are what they are:
- Coffee, alcohol and sugary drinks.
- Sugar. No sweets or sweeteners.
- Salt.
- Industrial products, baked goods and canned foods. The ideal snack is made up of fresh fruit or a yogurt.
- Frozen foods.
- The bread. Bread is not a bad food in itself but as part of a detox diet it should not be consumed too often (certainly not every day). In any case, it is better to choose it wholemeal and low in salt.
- The milk. Even milk, just like bread, is not harmful to the body, however, being a food a bit heavy to digest, it is best to abandon it until the end of the diet.
In short, only fresh and untreated foods should be preferred.

The 7-day detox diet menu
Here is an example of a typical detox diet menu to follow for seven days. It is a diet that involves eating a lot of vegetables, seasoned only with oil or vinegar, no sweets, zero alcohol and obviously no coffee.
BREAKFAST
At breakfast you can drink green tea, herbal teas, juices or centrifuges. Green light for plain yogurt, fruit and whole grains like oat bran. Yogurt can also be enriched by adding a teaspoon of chopped walnuts. Breakfast is perhaps the most important meal of the day and, as nutritionists teach, it should never be skipped.
SNACK
Freshly squeezed lemon or orange juice, fruit. A cup of herbal tea, some walnuts or almonds.
LUNCH
Whole grains such as rice, barley, spelled and quinoa are eaten for lunch along with large seasonal vegetable dishes. Here are some examples of a perfect dish to be eaten as a light lunch.

DINNER
At dinner it is good to give preference to proteins, giving preference to lean white meats such as chicken or rabbit. Then you can combine rice and vegetables, to be seasoned with oil or lemon. Bread is not completely forbidden but it should not be consumed more than 50 grams per day. Here are some examples of a typical dinner from which to take an example; the important thing is, as always, to vary the foods every day.
