How this three-step 800 calorie diet was born
The 800 calorie diet also given intermittent fasting was conceived by Michael Mosley who tells it in his book teaching us all the techniques to lose weight quickly and also those to stay fit forever. In Michael Mosley's version, the 800 calorie diet is divided into three different phases: Rapid Initial Weight Loss, New 5: 2 and Maintenance. For sure you are wondering how long each phase lasts but there is no precise answer, because it depends on your goal and how many kilos you have decided you want to lose.

The first phase, that of Rapid Weight Loss, is the diet with the fewest calories and is therefore the most rigid and difficult for everyone. Zero pasta, rice and bread! It can be a good way to start the diet because at the beginning you are very motivated and more likely not to give up: furthermore, immediately seeing important results in terms of weight loss will be a great encouragement to keep going! Usually this first phase must be followed for a couple of weeks or at most a month. In this phase, you really only consume 800 calories a day with a low carbohydrate content: this not only allows you to lose weight and induces mild ketosis, the body not only burns sugar but also fat and produces ketones that calm the appetite and lower the sense of hunger. This means that the first few days will be very difficult but afterwards it may seem easier and I would ask you how you have ever eaten before! Remember that in one day the 800 calorie diet meals must be 3: lunch, dinner and breakfast in the morning. No continuous snacks and snacks. Everything must be consumed in the three main meals: it is forbidden to eat anything after 10 pm. Before losing weight with this diet, remember that every food must be eaten fresh! It is an important note!
In some cases, people feel dizzy - tell your doctor right away.

What you eat on the 800 calorie diet
This diet includes the same menu every week, in particular breakfast is always the same: fresh skimmed milk with a few wholemeal corn flakes or alternatively a sugar-free coffee and low-fat yogurt. You read that right: sugar free! Because sugar is not included in the low-calorie diet! From Monday to Friday you can eat light lunches with proteins and vegetables always boiled and seasoned with a tablespoon of raw oil. Then chickpeas, lentils, roasted lean meat, grilled chicken, grilled fish, oil-free tuna. Foods are not weighed but counted with a spoon. The same goes for dinner: yes to sausages if they are lean such as raw ham and bresaola and also to low-fat cheeses and mozzarella and other foods we have seen for lunch. Eggs are also ok, and should be consumed hard-boiled. After lunch and dinner you can always treat yourself to a fruit (but not a banana, strawberries or cherries!). Even on Saturdays and Sundays you must necessarily keep the same diet of the week: as you can see there is no pasta or rice: carbohydrates are really negligible in the 800 calorie diet!
The quantities are not free and above all they are not abundant. Read online how many grams of each food are allowed (ranging from 30 grams to 100 grams maximum). And not even a little bread is expected: do you think you can't do it? Keep in mind that you can insert a slice of bread a day (about 30 grams) and that this corresponds to 100 calories more: there are not many, but it is already a first sgarro! Drinks are another sore element: the 800 calorie diet speaks for itself, only still non-carbonated water. Read online the many recipes and the many menus you find to organize your lunch and dinner before starting.
This is a restrictive weight loss regimen that requires a lot of sacrifices that deprives you of many of the calories you consume on a regular basis as well as many of the products you usually eat. If you feel like it (first remember to ask your doctor for an opinion) and if you are suffering from the most difficult missions, go for this undertaking: for sure the rapid results that this diet ensures will encourage you to continue!
Here's a typical 800 calorie day:
Breakfast: 1 low-fat yogurt and a sugar-free coffee
Alternatively 150g grams of skimmed milk and two tablespoons of wholemeal cron flakes
Lunch: 200 grams of boiled chickpeas and cooked vegetables seasoned with a tablespoon of oil (about 5 grams). A choice of fruit from apple, pear and orange. Alternatively, 3 slices of bresaola and boiled mixed vegetables. A fruit of your choice.
Dinner: 150 grams grilled chicken and cooked vegetables seasoned with a drizzle of oil. A fruit of your choice between apple, pear and orange. Alternatively mozzarella or low-fat cheese always accompanied by vegetables and fruit of your choice.
Allowed drink: still non-sparkling water
Alert: remember to moderate the salt!
Phase 5: 2 and maintenance: phase two and phase three of the 800 kcal diet.
The second phase is defined as 5: 2. This type of dietary path may be more in line with your expectations and you may feel able to extend it over time even for a few months. This phase of the 800 calorie diet is also called intermittent fasting: 800 calories are not consumed from Monday to Sunday but only for 2 days a week and in the others you opt for a more caloric meal plan. The other 5 days it will be necessary not to overeat but you can follow a freer diet. The last phase is that of maintenance which leads to transforming the fasting mechanism learned with the 800 calorie diet into a real lifestyle. It therefore consists in regularly resuming a day at 800 calories to enhance the results obtained over time and maintain the current weight achieved.
