CrossFit: what is it?

Cross in English means "crossing, mixing". This practice combines a set of movements performed at high intensity to tone all the muscles. In practice, it is a mix of weight lifting, bodyweight exercises and cardiovascular training, combined in a single session, always different.

You practice running, rowing, jumping rope, climbing and moving heavy loads. Dumbbells, gymnastic rings, pull-up bars and kettbells (a ball-shaped weight with handle) are also used.

CrossFit exercises

Among the basic exercises, performed in sequence, we find the Air Squats: to perform them, from an upright position you move on to squatting with the hips below the knees, and then back to standing.

Pull-ups, on the other hand, consist in "clinging to a bar fixed in the air, horizontally, starting from a suspended position with outstretched arms. Then you bring your chin over the bar and go back down without touching the ground.

Finally, in the Sit-ups, you start from a supine position, with your shoulders on the ground, and then move with your shoulders on your hips and return to the basic position.

The benefits of CrossFit: after how long are they visible?

However, if your goal is to slim and reduce the waist and thighs, CrossFit is not the most suitable sport. The purpose of this workout, in fact, is to strengthen the muscles of the whole body, making them more toned, resistant and bulky. Its benefits are therefore linked to the increase of muscular endurance, to the improvement of cardiovascular and respiratory activity, to the strengthening of agility, balance and coordination.

Already after a couple of months of training you can have evident results on the body, with an increase in muscle mass and acceleration of metabolism. To help you achieve this, also take care of your diet! Here are some recommended foods to lose weight quickly:
