- Position yourself near a natural light source, such as a window. Attention, there must not be direct sun, but only daylight.
- Think locally and try to figure out if the makeup you are about to do is suitable for the occasion you will wear it. Intense makeup, with false eyelashes and dark lipstick, may not be suitable for a job interview, for example.
- Never stand too close to the mirror. For some details of the "eye it is necessary to get a little closer", but in general, always try to have a full view of the face.
- Experiment! This is the key to knowing how to put on a good make-up. Never exceed the quantities, rather better add later. Moreover, by experimenting, you will understand the best technique and the right products that are right for you.
- Before you go out, quickly check your face by mirroring yourself under different types of light.
- In general, and especially if you are a beginner, do not overdo the makeup. As you become more experienced, you will be able to accentuate certain areas more and more.
- Wash your makeup brushes and accessories frequently to prevent germs and bacteria trapped in the bristles from creating rashes on your face.

In the morning, before you put on your make-up, you need to cleanse your face: this will not only prepare the skin, but will also help remove any residue from the previous day's make-up. If you skip this step, the yield of the products you are going to apply on the skin may not be as expected. For example, if the skin is dry in some areas and will not be thoroughly moisturized before the foundation, the latter will only accentuate the cuticles, making the final result uneven.
The same thing also applies to the evening, which is the time when you will have to remove all your makeup to prevent the pores from clogging during the night, and the first imperfections appear. Choose an effective cleanser for your skin type and never forget to apply a moisturizer after drying your skin.
2. Dedicate yourself to the face base
The first step for a perfect face base is to apply the primer. This will prepare the skin and will make sure that the foundation applied later will last longer. On the market there are different types of specific primers to correct some skin "defects": first wrinkles, dilated pores, oily skin, dry skin.
Apply the primer directly with your fingers, tapping all over the face until completely absorbed.
At this point, dispense a few drops of foundation on the back of the hand and then pick it up with a brush: we advise you to choose a duo fiber brush (black bristles on the bottom and white on top) that is also very suitable if you use a foundation in powder or cream.
Apply the foundation in circular motions, starting from the center of the face and moving towards the sides. It blends very well in the area between the jaw and the neck to avoid color detachments. After applying the product with a brush, you can use a wet and squeezed make-up sponge to dab on all areas, to blend and make the look even more natural.
The face base is a very important step, so pay the utmost attention: make sure that the foundation is in your color to avoid detachments between the face and neck, which would be unsightly. Don't try to look tanned by using foundation, the result will be completely unnatural.
If you are unsure about the shade of concealer or foundation, try it on the neck and not on the back of the hand, as it is possible that this area is slightly different from the face.

In areas where there is some imperfection and to correct the eye contour area, use a concealer. In this case you can use your fingers directly and tap the product. Better not to "pull" to prevent the foundation applied underneath from moving too.
Now is the time to fix everything with a setting powder that will eliminate the shiny effect left by the cream products and make them last until the evening. For the powder use a large brush, or a dry sponge with which to dab the powder that you will then blend with the brush.
With the steps described up to here the face could appear flat: this is normal, because all the natural shadows will have been "erased" by foundation and concealer. What to do? Apply the contouring technique, with which to recreate the natural volumes of the face. Contouring is based on the use of earth and highlighter, which, when blended in the right areas, will make the face harmonious and correct any shape defects.
Finally, apply a touch of blush on the cheeks: in addition to recreating the famous effect good mine, it will help to make the face appear even more harmonious and uniform. Use an angled brush and blend to avoid smudging!
3. The importance of the eyebrows
Before moving on to eye makeup, you will need to redefine your brows. This is also an important step, because the eyebrows make the whole face and obviously the look harmonious. If you already have thick, full brows, you can also skip this step. Otherwise, a pencil, a wax, or a powder product will be enough to go and draw some hairs and thicken them. At the end you can fix and style everything with a clear gel. Find all the steps to fill in your eyebrows in this article: how to have perfect eyebrows in 3 simple steps.

To explain how to do your eye makeup well, we have decided to create a real list of steps to take: it will be impossible to go wrong.
- Apply a primer all over the eyelid, to prevent the eyeshadow from getting into the creases of the eye and the color from being faded.
- Proceed with the eyeshadows: you can apply more eyeshadows by blending them together and you can choose whether to use powder or cream eyeshadows. Remember as a general rule, that darker colors will go to the outer corner of the eye and into the crease for definition. The bright or glitter eyeshadows will be perfect for creating a light point in the center of the eyelid. Finally, light colors (vanilla, butter, champagne) will be useful for illuminating the inner corner of the eye.
- Never wear the eyeshadow all the way to the eyebrow line, but always stay low and blend the edges with a flesh-colored eyeshadow.
- At the lash line, apply a pencil which you will then blend with a flat bristle brush, or use the eyeliner.
- Finally apply the mascara on the lashes. It is usually preferable to use black mascara which serves to give intensity to the look. If you have light lashes, you can also use brown mascara, especially if you need makeup for an occasion where you need to look neat, but don't overdo it.

5. The lips
Before completing the make-up by switching to the lips, remember that you will need to have them well hydrated. If they are not, use an emollient conditioner that you will remove just before applying the lipstick. Usually the classic lipstick is used to make up the lips, but recently there are many other products on the market that are stealing the show.
Lip tints, colored oils, matte lipsticks, glosses. What's your favorite? To understand this, all you have to do is try the different textures and figure out what you prefer. However, to make lip makeup last longer there are two secrets that we want to reveal to you:
- outline the edges and the center of the lips with a pencil that will act as a base and will also help in case the lipstick should go away.
- to prevent the lipstick from ending up on the teeth, dab a tissue in order to eliminate excess product.
