DIY waxing: the most effective methods to do at home
Practical and economical, do-it-yourself hair removal is one of the most common options for women who don't like going to the beautician and spending too much money. There are several DIY hair removal methods that you can choose to do at home: razor, depilatory cream, electric razor, but waxing is undoubtedly the preferred choice.
But which type of DIY wax to choose to get perfect results and suffer as little as possible? There are several methods of homemade waxing from which you can choose according to your tastes and needs, below we will try to list them: from the Arab waxing, based on sugar and lemon, to its light variant with honey, up to to the classic strips - cold wax - or to hot waxing. Here are all the most effective ways to wax at home.
Striped waxing (or cold waxing): ideal for groin and mustache
If you are a beginner and are not really used to DIY waxing, the method of depilatory strips can be the first step. It is a cold wax that is applied to the skin after a gentle warming in the hands or on the radiator. Slightly less effective than traditional hot wax, the depilatory strips are ideal for the most delicate and sensitive areas, such as groin and mustache.
The only precaution to keep in mind is to apply the strip in the opposite direction to that of hair growth, taking care to massage vigorously before pulling.
Hot waxing
More effective but challenging at the same time than cold wax, DIY hot waxing is another option that requires a little more time and dexterity. If you feel like it and you are by now an expert beautician, you can embark on this enterprise, which turns out to be among the most efficient hair removal methods. You can also choose to wax yourself, as in the Arabic method, using a recipe based on lemon, water, sugar and possibly honey.
If not, you can buy the complete DIY hot wax kit and then proceed, following the instructions. The procedure is quite simple: the wax is heated to be solubilized and made easier to spread, which must take place in the direction of the hair growth. After allowing it to cool for a while, you can spread it on the area of the skin you want and then apply the special depilatory strip with a rather strong movement in the opposite direction to the growth of the hair.
This type of waxing is ideal for slightly wider areas of the skin, which would take too long to work with cold strips: hot wax is therefore excellent for the legs, although it would be better avoided in cases of varicose veins and capillary fragility, as the heat would cause vasodilation.
DIY Arabic waxing: the recipe for making it at home
One of the most effective, and least painful, methods for a DIY hot wax is the Arabic one, called halawa or sokkar, based on sugar, water and lemon juice.
But what's the recipe for a perfect DIY Arab wax?
1 glass of sugar
1/2 lemon
1 small glass of water
1 tablespoon of salt
Pour the glass of sugar and water into a non-stick pan and boil for a few minutes, at which point you will obtain a caramel-colored mixture, to which you must add the lemon drops. Stir and shortly after immerse it in cold water, so as to let it cool and to be able to work it with your hands to create a ball. At this point you can proceed: slide the ball on the legs so as to run the wax and then tear in the opposite direction to hair growth.
On Amazon you can find it ready.
Only precaution: the hairs must not be too short, as they would not be able to be "intercepted" by the ball.

DIY Arabian waxing with honey: the light variant for the private parts and the most delicate areas
Unlike traditional Arab waxing, this more delicate variant involves the addition of honey, and is particularly suitable for the most sensitive areas of the skin, including the mustache and groin.
The recipe for Arabian waxing with the addition of honey
2 glass of sugar
1/2 lemon
1 glass of water
2 tablespoons of honey
Put all the ingredients in a non-stick pan and let it go over a low heat. Once the mixture is liquid, remove it from the heat and immerse it in cold water, so that it cools. Shortly after, work the mixture with your hands and always make a ball of it. Thanks to the presence of honey, the ball will be softer and more malleable, so you can detach some pieces, to spread on the area to be depilated. Always remember to tear against the grain.
To make it less painful and prepare the skin for tearing, before shaving, apply some cleansing milk to the skin. And in general, even a scrub or scrub the day before is a great way to remove ingrown hair and prepare the skin.
As we said, this more delicate variant of Arab waxing is particularly suitable for sensitive areas: it is therefore a perfect do-it-yourself hair removal method for groin, mustache and armpits.
