With straight hair you can make many hairstyles - try the herringbone braid!

How to get straight hair: nourishment and hydration

To have a splendid smooth hair you need to start from the basics, that is, by washing the hair. Wavy or curly hair is naturally drier than straight hair, therefore it should be washed with specific products formulated to give an "extra dose of hydration. There are, for example, shampoos designed specifically to tame the frizz of the shafts and protect them from" aggressive action of hairdryer and straightener. Once washed, then, a smoothing action balm should be applied, which should then be rinsed off with cold water. The role of the mask is fundamental. To have smooth hair it is very useful to do at least one or two masks a week: they can be based on vegetable oils or substances with a repairing effect such as keratin.

Before proceeding with the drying, the hair must be dabbed gently and a protective product must be applied. There are various types on the market, from sprays to fluids or creams, the important thing is that it has a "thermoprotective action that protects the hair from the damage of the straightening treatment of the straightener and hairdryer.
As for drying, after having applied a heat protection serum, you can start using the hair dryer on the hair. To give more volume you can use it upside down but be careful: the flow of hot air must be adjusted to the maximum when the hair is wet, then it becomes lukewarm when it is almost dry.

Smooth the hair with a brush and hairdryer

Straightening the hair using a brush and hairdryer is one of the most used methods to ensure a spaghetti-like hair and, above all, without frizz. To achieve it you need to follow these steps:

  • Comb the hair with a wide-toothed comb and divide it into four parts, one in the middle, one behind the neck and two on the sides.
  • Use a round brush with fairly dense bristles and a hair dryer with a nozzle.
  • Roll the various sections onto the brush and gradually direct the jet of hot air to smooth the hair. Always follow a movement from top to bottom.
  • If the hair is long, it is better to choose a flat and wide brush.
  • Always scroll the lengths up to the tips while maintaining some tension.

The most precious ally for straight hair: the straightener

The straightener is perhaps the most effective method to make hair straight even at home. It is a beauty accessory that has revolutionized our way of understanding the fold but, although the new models are increasingly performing and less aggressive, straightening with the plate still remains a technique that damages the hair. For this it is necessary to protect them with fluids or ad hoc serums that limit the effect of heat. To smooth the hair proceed as follows:

  • Collect the highest strands with pliers and work the lower part of the head first.
  • You set the temperature: in principle you can use 100-150 degrees for thin hair, 150-180 degrees for normal hair and 180-200 degrees for strong and thick hair, however it is not a fixed rule.
  • Make decisive movements by pulling the hair from the base to the ends, working one strand at a time.
  • Apply a slight rotational movement at 45 ° on the lengths.

Finally, you can proceed to apply a light polishing oil that gives a glossy effect to the hair.

Straighten your hair with curlers and the Swedish wheel

The Swedish wheel is a very old method of straightening hair, which can be used in the summer. To make it, you need to separate the hair from the upper part of the head from the lower one, wrapping both around a large curler. Then the remaining strands are wrapped around the skull, as if to bandage it, and fastened with hairpins. Once dry you can see the result: naturally straight hair without using brushes and hair dryers.

Alternatively, you can use the curlers method, which gives a smooth but voluminous effect. The curlers are applied by pulling each strand outwards, placing them under the tips of the hair and rolling them up to the base of the scalp. They are held in place with hairpins and proceed with drying with a hairdryer. Once this is done, you can use specific styling products such as fixing oils or sprays.
