WOMEN, LOVE YOUR BODY! THE PHOTOGRAPHIC PROJECT THAT ENCOURAGES YOU TO APPRECIATE YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU ARE

Lithuanian photographer Neringa Rekašiūtė, journalist Beata Tiškevič and communication expert Modesta Kairytė invited a group of women to take off their clothes and pose in underwear in front of the mirror to send a strong and courageous message to all female people: to love each other for as it is, overcoming fears, insecurities and challenging the diktats of today's society that imposes and promotes an ideal of unreal and perfect beauty. It is a photographic project, called We.women, which presents itself as a manifesto against traditional canons of beauty proposed by the mass media today and which aims to awaken the consciences of women and their awareness of their potential, promptly obscured by the current aesthetic models from which they are bombarded every day.

The photo shoot featured 12 women, with different bodies and experiences, who posed in underwear in front of a mirror. "Each of the women who have lent themselves to our project, have faced a series of different problems regarding the perception of themselves and their image; not only women who have experienced contempt for their body due to" excessive thinness or fatness. , but also others who have suffered from serious eating disorders, such as "anorexia or bulimia, or from diseases such as depression, vitiligo, up to breast cancer", these are the words of the photographer of the noble project. This is an "initiative which, although it cannot completely solve the problem of female discomfort in relation to the perception of one's own image, can certainly encourage women to love each other more and not to hide behind perfect and unattainable clichés, which in many cases they end up chasing, losing sight of their true beauty and uniqueness.
