The magic of the pedicure: soft feet and manicured nails
It is not enough to rely on a beautician only in the summer before putting on sandals. The pedicure must be a periodic and constant treatment, if you want to have soft and healthy feet and beautiful and well-groomed nails in every season. So, in addition to relying on an expert professional, you also need to know how to manage it alone, when you don't want or have time to go to a beauty center. The aesthetic pedicure includes softening of the feet, cutting with nail filing, smoothing, moisturizing massage and nail polish. Unlike the curative one at home or by the beautician on feet and nails without any particular problems or pathologies and is exclusively aimed at the aesthetics of the foot and nails. The curative one, on the other hand, should be carried out by a specialized pedicurist, if you are in the presence of thickening of the skin, ingrown nails, small calluses, partridge eyes, hardened heels, accumulations of skin between the toes, or by a podiatrist for more serious problems.

An aesthetic pedicure first of all includes a foot bath for a quarter of an hour. Use lukewarm water, adding baking soda and coarse salt and a few drops of refreshing and emollient essential oils, excellent those of lavender and mint. Then remove the nail polish with a non-harmful oily solvent, start massaging one foot at a time with a natural homemade scrub, with products from your pantry, to remove superficial calluses and smooth the skin, leaving the other foot to soak. You can also use bristle spatulas to remove thickening and exfoliation or scrub dry skin with pumice stone and then rinse. Finally, dry both feet thoroughly, including in the area between the toes, and put on some soft after-shower slippers. Now begins the phase of cuticles, cutting and filing of the nails. With an orange stick, very carefully and gently, move the cuticles towards the skin to free the nails from dead skin. Turning to the cut, never cut the corners of the nails too much, make a straight cut or round it with the double file. A straighter cut prevents the nail from becoming ingrown and from being raised too high on the sides. To get rid of a few spots or thin out some thicker ones, use the buffer. Another fundamental step is to soften the feet with a moisturizer: start from the toes, going up to the ankle, massage the sole and instep, until it is completely absorbed. When the nails are also dry, you can move on to the polish. Choose a polish that is perhaps lighter than that of the hands if it is not summer, apply the base first, so as not to damage the nails, then the polish and finally the top coat that protects it and makes it more resistant. Never leave the nails too long long and cracked heels. Always take care of your feet consistently, even in winter, always moisturize them with a good cream, in order to prevent blemishes and pain especially with closed shoes. The pedicure in antiquity
The pedicure was already practiced by the Egyptians and also the Greeks and Romans were particularly keen to take care of their body. The Greeks did therapeutic baths and massages and treatments to eliminate the imperfections of the feet. The Romans very frequently underwent thermal treatments. Hippocrates, who has always been defined as the Father of medicine, believed that foot care is fundamental for the health of the human organism, as is also claimed by Eastern philosophies. In the nineteenth century pedicure was given importance only as a medical tool, to relieve foot pain and facilitate walking. During the twentieth century it was no longer considered only a medical treatment, but also an aesthetic cure for the beauty of the feet.
