Childbirth: two-part book on pregnancy
We always talk about pregnancy from only one point of view, that of the mother, as she arrives in Liberia in September I'm leaving, a book with two voices (that of the mother and that of the child) written by Chiara Carminati and Massimiliano Tappari, published by Franco Cosimo Panini.
The book can be read both in one sense and in the other, and each part is dedicated to each of the two protagonists of that exceptional event that is pregnancy. Mother and child are united in the body, it is true, but each of them experiences different sensations, so much so that the part dedicated to the mother is called 9 month diary of air, that of the child 9 month diary of water. Two physical dimensions that say how much they are two different experiences, which the authors try to tell with images and brief thoughts, elements of everyday life that try to convey a suggestion, something difficult to explain if you are not a woman who is expecting, or a child growing up and waiting to be born.
Parto is a story for two voices, indeed they are two parallel tales of 9 months of small and big events, parallel lives that will meet in the central image of the book, that of childbirth, when finally mother and son really know each other.
