Between the sixth and eighth week after birth, you will have another gynecological examination. Your uterus is gradually returning to its initial size. It's time to start perineal re-education.

During pregnancy and childbirth, the perineum is put to the test. After the birth of your baby, therefore, it is necessary to "re-educate" him. This rehabilitation is highly recommended to all women who have had a natural birth, even if only to return to having a satisfying sex life.

Perineal re-education sessions can be started around the sixth-eighth week after birth, later in the case of breastfeeding. It is also good to wait for this period to allow time for the abdominal and pelvic organs to resume their position within the abdominal cavity and for the abdominal muscles to regain tone and elasticity.

It is important, however, that the exercises and re-education must be performed before 5-6 months have passed from the birth, otherwise they risk being less effective. The exercises consist of strengthening the pelvic floor muscles and regaining the functionality of their automatic contraction reflexes.

Re-education of the perineum helps prevent urinary incontinence problems and the prolapse, or falling down of the uterus and / or bladder. Once you have finished perineal rehabilitation, you can start working on your abdominals.

The development of the child

Communication with the child
Your baby interacts with you more and more.

- His gestures are becoming more and more precise. A little at a time, he manages to open his hands. He spends more and more time looking at and sucking his little hands. If an object attracts his attention, he reaches out to him, but he still can't take it.

- Start responding to your smiles. It's up to you to find out how to make him laugh!

- Start making the first vowel sounds. Between the seventh and twelfth week, he will begin to stammer, laugh, make guttural sounds. It is the first stage of language acquisition. These tender sounds, however, are not yet voluntary.

The first vaccine
You have to plan for the first vaccine, which should be done around the 3rd month.
Compulsory vaccines: diphtheria vaccination; tetanus vaccination; polio vaccination; hepatitis B vaccination. Those recommended: pertoxic vaccination; meningitis; pneumococcus.

In general, i Vaccination Centers of the Municipalities are very efficient and arrange for a vaccination program to be sent to each new born, already proposing a first appointment. There will then be two subsequent recalls: in the 5th and 11th month for polio, pertussis, diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis B and meningitis.

The boosters serve to produce the permanent protective effect of vaccination.
These are practiced together for practical reasons, but above all because it has been shown that the effect of vaccines applied at the same time is more effective.

Good to know
In the healthy newborn there are no contraindications to vaccinations. Naturally, before practicing them, the pediatrician will evaluate the health of the child and the presence or absence of some specific contraindications. For example, a child suffering from a severe fever, or certainly allergic to one of the components of the vaccine, will not be vaccinated, and in case of diarrhea.

Possible side effects may be: the child's irritability in the hours following vaccination, pain at the site of the puncture, the probable hematoma due to the stiffening of the muscle by the child, or a mild and transient feverish state.

Our advice

Your body: beauty tips

Do you want to get back in shape? Take care of your body! Generally, if you take stock of your physical condition, the result is destabilizing: loose skin, the appearance of stretch marks, water retention, hair loss ... In addition to a "balanced diet, take care of your body to find the line!"

Apply firming and anti-stretch mark creams on your thighs and stomach, massaging your skin. Moisturize your breasts with creams rich in vitamins and suitable for breastfeeding. If necessary, start an anti-fall treatment for your hair.

Your baby's games
Your child needs early childhood toys: they will help him develop attention faster! Here is a list of the "timeless" with proven effectiveness:

- A little rattle
- A gym to put on his play mat
- A music box
- A cloth book with different fabrics and sounds

Children are very sensitive to music: a classical music record (it is said that children adore Mozart ... Preludes Bach's are, however, used in certain American maternity wards to calm babies), nursery rhymes or lullabies will make him happy!
