For a healthy skin always and not only in summer, watch this video with the precious advice of a dermatologist.
From sunburn to burn: beware of sun exposure
Solar erythema is an inflammatory manifestation of the skin, which can develop following excessive and prolonged exposure to the sun without the necessary precautions and without adequate preparation.
This reaction is very variable and can range from sunburn (limited to the most superficial skin layers) to a "first or second degree burn. A few hours after exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays, sunburn occurs with some characteristic symptoms: swelling, dryness, burning, itching, extreme sensitivity of the skin to the touch and abnormal redness.

No scratching, yes to the beach but don't forget the cream
If after a too intensive session under UV rays you have the infamous erythema you will need to, needless to say, stay away from the sun for a few days. If you really can't resist at the hotel, go to the beach but stay in the shade and splash your sunscreen anyway (SPF 50+) as the rays also filter under the umbrella.
It is also forbidden to scratch - you would make the situation worse - and not to scrub or peel. Only when the erythema has completely disappeared (usually it takes 4 or 5 days) will you be able to expose yourself to the sun again, gradually, avoiding the hottest hours and ALWAYS with protection, especially on the affected area - it is not said that the erythema can't come back!
