The advantages of natural cosmetics

The ingredients contained in most of the products on the market are intended to provide the cosmetic with certain characteristics, including good fragrance, shelf life and ease of use.

Each cosmetic product must show on the packaging the qualitative composition of the ingredients, even those present in smallest part, in descending order.

Reading the label of a traditional product you will find approximately 30 ingredients, including some chemicals such as paraffin or parabens, which are considered pollutants and can create allergies or skin irritations.

Different are the natural cosmetics composed mostly of waxes, floral waters, vegetable oils all ingredients that already have eudermic functions in themselves, that is, they improve the physiological state of the skin, are emollient and nourishing, and unlike traditional cosmetics they contain about 10 ingrediants.

But what are the characteristics of natural cosmetics?

Natural products are created through the use of renewable and vegetable raw materials, from organic farming or from the collection of spontaneous plants, all strictly skin-compatible, which therefore protect the health of those who use them.
We can also comfortably prepare creams, shampoos and beauty masks at home with simple recipes and some ingredients that we find in herbal medicine, if you do not have the possibility to collect it in nature.

Another fundamental point is the use of low environmental impact products, which do not leave toxic residues in the water, for example, also with regard to product packaging.

The main features are:

  • Presence of a natural active ingredient, such as essential oils or plant extracts.
  • Presence of natural excipients, such as olive oil or vegetable fats and absence of excipients derived from petroleum (e.g. paraffin or petrolatum).
  • Presence of adjuvants and natural additives such as citric acid, used as a preservative and essential oils for the fragrance of the product.
  • Short term shelf life because they do not contain synthetic preservatives., On average a natural product should be consumed in 3-4 months and should be stored in environments without temperature changes and away from direct light.

The benefits of natural cosmetics for the skin

Natural cosmetics have several advantages, first of all being that of not subjecting our body to chemicals and for this reason they are also less prone to causing irritation and allergies. They deeply nourish the skin, thanks to the properties of the various active ingredients of the plants, without drying it and helping it to maintain its beauty for a long time and to preserve its state of well-being.

Each person will have to find the remedy or rather, the most suitable active ingredient for their skin, whether it is normal, oily, dry and the climate must also be taken into consideration. For example, in winter a cream that balances hydration will be more suitable, while in summer a cosmetic that protects from UV rays and has a refreshing and soothing action.
