Amenorrhea: the causes

It is a physical disease, but it can also be linked to psychological factors. One of the most common causes of amenorrhea, especially in today's society, is in fact stress. Beware of psychotropic drugs and other medicines that can cause amenorrhea, such as the suspension of the contraceptive pill.

Women who suffer from anorexia or who practice "intense physical activity not compensated by an adequate nutritional intake are also at risk of amenorrhea."

Among the causes c "is also" chronic anovulation: practically, despite the presence of a functioning ovary, the latter is not reached by the hormonal signals necessary to lead to ovulation and therefore to menstruation. At the base there is usually a dysfunction of the hypothalamus or pituitary.

Also the menstrual cycle, but this can also turn into amenorrhea.

There are also anatomical causes, such as abnormalities in the vaginal septum and an unperforated hymen. And that's not all, because interventions on the uterus (such as scrapings) can result in scars that can block the cycle.
