This is why it makes no sense to talk about Adele's weight
"You are beautiful and they throw stones at you, you are ugly and they throw stones at you [...] whatever you do, wherever you go, you will always get stones in your face." So Antoine sang in 1967. An apparently light tune that, if listened more carefully, reveals one of the most absolute truths in human history: regardless of what you do, people will always have something to say. And it will rarely be positive thoughts. This is a bit of the life story of Adele, the English singer-songwriter with an unmistakable soulful voice. Adele is known not only for the singing successes that accompanied us during the moments of brutalization after disappointment in love, but also for the forms that have always distinguished her. A beautiful girl buttery who raised the flag of the body-positive movement high. Aware of her own body and the merciless world around her, the singer has always refused to work with people who have a problem with her weight. When signing a contract, Adele has always made things clear: if anyone ever dared to ask her or, worse, force her to lose weight, she would lose any chance of working with her. And what a loss, I would dare to point out. In short, the artist has never allowed anyone to put it in a corner (semi-cit), even when that someone was Karl Lagerfeld. In 2012, the then creative director of Chanel called her "A little too fat", then attempting, a little awkwardly, to gild the pill by claiming to love her face and her voice. Which is a bit like saying, "I love you. Good. Like a friend. " She has always shrugged, reiterating her opinion about it very clearly "Whoever criticizes my weight is ridiculous, period". BOOM.
A drastic change in lifestyle

But let's come to the present day. If you type the name "Adele" into Google, the results will condense into an infinity of articles, one along the lines of the other. “Adele unrecognizable”, “Adele lost 30 kg”, “Fans are worried about the singer's health” etc etc. In fact, some photos of Adele on vacation in Anguilla have recently started circulating on the internet, portraying her visibly thinner. The whole thing went viral and this gave rise to the usual comments from keyboard lions. It is difficult to even think about it, let alone believe it, but it is all true: paradoxically, we have gone from "Adele you are too fat" to "Adele you are too thin". Therefore, unfortunately, the decrease in weight on the scale has not resulted in a decrease in body-shaming on the web. This brings us back to the aforementioned song, which today would sound more or less like “If you are fat, they insult you on the web, if you are thin, they insult you on the web”.
2019 was a year of change for Adele. The secret marriage with Simon Konecki, who has always been at the side of the singer and with whom, in 2012, he also had little Angelo, was shipwrecked after just 2 years. The singer also had to face some health problems and, fearing to compromise her voice forever, she decided to drastically change her lifestyle. The artist, in fact, confessed that, in the past, she used to drink 10 cups of tea a day, each sweetened by two sachets of sugar, for a total of 20 sachets of sugar per day. Definitely not a cure-all for health. Hence the decision to join the Sirt diet, permanently eliminating sugars, spicy foods, alcohol and cigarettes from one's life, all accompanied by physical activity. She herself admitted that she felt more energetic than ever, thus silencing the voices that would like her to be "tired and sick". "I used to cry but now I sweat" (I used to cry, now I sweat), this is the caption of one of the most recent photos uploaded by the artist on Instagram. A mantra that we all should keep in mind whatever our goals are. Stop crying, it's time to get down to business.
We, however, in these photos we see simply a smiling woman, a woman who is enjoying her holidays on a wonderful Caribbean beach, a woman who, in addition to selling millions of records and having won an Oscar in 2013 for the best song. with Skyfall, she managed to eliminate all traces of toxicity from her life and finally take care of herself. When we have a woman of Adele's caliber in front of us, weight is really the last thought that should spring to mind.
