The basic principle of Dr. Stork's diet

The new, but already beloved, diet conceived by the American doctor Travis Stork is based on an important basic principle: to purify and keep our intestines healthy.
The secret to having a flat stomach is in fact to progressively reduce abdominal swelling and to do this there is a "only solution: to make sure that the intestinal bacteria work properly.
Having a healthy intestine means reducing various ailments that can cause an annoying swollen belly, including constipation and all related problems.
If the good microorganisms of the bacterial flora work correctly, they are able to counteract the assimilation of fats, especially in the abdominal area, and help to make the extra pounds disappear!

More than just being a real diet, the diet suggested by Doctor Stork consists in adopting some precise habits, to be put into practice as often as possible and, of course, whenever the hateful sensation of abdominal bloating is perceived.
The rules to follow are not so tiring and certainly do not leave you hungry! It's all about choosing healthy, quality foods and controlling your daily portions. The diet, in fact, does not have a specific duration and we can follow it as needed.

The 7 rules of the Stork diet

Let's find out then the 7 eating habits that Doctor Stork recommends us to follow to get a perfect flat stomach.

But first, we want to introduce you to Dr. Travis Stork ...

Well, let's go back to the rules:

- consume probiotic foods. This is rule number 1 for having a healthy gut; foods such as yogurt, kefir, kimchi, miso, tempeh and sauerkraut are essential to protect our friendly bacteria.

- fill up on fruit and vegetables, at least 6 portions a day. Fruits and vegetables are the diet foods par excellence! Dr. Stork advises us to prefer raw vegetables, including courgettes, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and radishes, and to consume seasonal fruits, such as apples, pears, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, possibly whole (rich in fiber ) and not in the form of juices or centrifuged.

- beware of starch, that is, consume in small quantities: corn, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes and water chestnuts (half a portion per day).

- never forget to drink ... water please! The right amount of water - 8 glasses a day - allows the fibers to work and keeps constipation away. While carbonated and high-sugar drinks are to be limited, if not avoided altogether! Watch out for caffeine too ... (if you don't overdo it, it also has many positive effects!)

- consume at least 6 courses of protein. Among the foods that contain it in the majority, prefer: legumes (beans, peas and lentils), milk and derivatives (including classic yogurt, Greek yogurt and low-fat cheeses such as ricotta), eggs, soy proteins to replace meat (such as tofu and tempeh), fatty fish (anchovies, salmon, sardines, swordfish, trout and tuna) and white meat (chicken and turkey). For condiments or snacks are ideal: almonds, walnuts, peanuts, pistachios and seeds (pumpkin, sesame and sunflower).

- eat at least 2 servings of whole grains, such as whole grain bread and rice, oats and quinoa, and avoid processed grains and other refined products (white bread and rice, salt, sugar and margarine).

- it is allowed, indeed recommended, the consumption of good fats, such as oil (olive, walnut, sesame, soy, linseed, grape seed or coconut) and olives, both green and black.
