In the lymph nodes anti-tumor cells
The specialized journal "Nature Communications" has published an article on a study that could have important implications for the fight against cancer. A group of researchers from the Universities of Verona and Brescia has in fact identified cells capable of counteracting malignant tumors.
The cells, called slanDC, are found in the immune system and in particular are located in lymph node metastases. It seems that they may play an important role in the organization of the immune response to carcinomas, which are the dominant group of human cancers.
