Consult an andrologist

What is that?

Andrology is to man as gynecology is to woman. It is a recent discipline that deals with various male pathologies such as erectile dysfunction (also called impotence), ejaculation disorders (such as premature ejaculation), deficit of androgens due to age (also called andropause) or male infertility problems.

The most frequent ailments

Erectile dysfunction

25% of the male population suffers from impotence: 15% are under the age of 45 and 44% are over 45. These figures do not take into account men who happen to have sporadic erection disorders. Erectile dysfunction is a real disease and it needs to be evaluated. In people with diabetes, it can also indicate more serious conditions, such as cardiovascular problems. This is a problem that should not be overlooked.

Disorders of ejaculation

Some men suffer from premature ejaculation: a problem that disturbs their lives and those of their partners. Premature ejaculation often has a psychological origin. There are also men who have very slow or absent ejaculation. Even in these cases, the in-depth study of each case allows to determine the origin of the disorder and to correct it. Finally, some men experience pain at the time of ejaculation. Generally, these pains are caused by prostate infections or by the repercussions of these infections: in these cases there are therapeutic solutions.

Male infertility

In the event that the couple is unable to have children, the man must also take exams. The spermogram and the spermocytogram allow to identify the presence of any anomalies which must then be carefully studied, in order to find an adequate treatment.

Thus, following specific tests, men's sexual problems can be treated by an andrologist and possibly a sexologist. In the event of any disorders, it is important to consult a doctor as soon as possible, to avoid serious consequences, both on a medical and psycho-sexual level.
