How to wear sock boots (and how not to!)

Sock boots are the typical example of seasonal obsession from which we can hardly get rid of. We see it everywhere, we begin to hate it 5 minutes after seeing it and, magically, a few days later we find it at our feet, and not only. We want it in every possible color, material, shape and option. Reason why we try to justify our repeated shopping sessions exactly like this:

Fall winter 2017-2018 fashion had openly declared its biased alignment on the vintage side, proposing sock-effect boots as one of the indisputable 80 "s-90" s must-haves to show off on different occasions, along with over-sized sleeves, Hippie style high waist and fringes.

How to wear stretch sock boots

Who said that vintage calls only and exclusively other vintage? Of course, sock boots are perfect for a total look that irreparably refers back 30 years to when denim went crazy and girls gave it a touch of color with a particular shoe (strictly pointed), or under high-waisted miniskirts that leave no room for vulgarity but only for some resonant pop notes of the speakers of studio 54. But sock boots are also perfect for giving a simple retro touch to a minimal and super modern look. Whether it's a black and white or a square-shaped mini-dress, stretch boots thin the ankle and don't break it like a normal leather stiletto. Zara, Mango and Zalando offer them in all possible versions

When to avoid the sock boot

No law, mind you, but there are combinations in which stretch sock boots do not give the best of themselves. For example, if you want to combine them with palazzo trousers, prefer them not too long, which make the shoe disappear and do not enhance it; or if you want to combine them with very short skirts, opt for high-waisted miniskirts, because the low waist recalls the horizontal line created by the stiletto and risks breaking the figure in the wrong place. If it rains, of course, avoid those in fabric or velvet, and opt for the more rock version in leather, perhaps studded. Of course, unless you can afford Gucci rain sandals!

And if you really are hostile and can't imagine how to match sock boots to your look, don't worry, take a look here for all the alternatives!
