Marriott and Ikea for low cost hotels

The chain will be called Moxy, the brand will be owned by Marriot, and the hotels will not have furniture or the typical Ikea design which, instead, will propose new construction techniques to further contain costs. The structures, designed especially for young travelers and commuters, will have between 150 and 300 rooms and will be located near the airports, stations and subway stops with an average price of 60 euros per night.

The ambitious initiative represents the first foray into low-cost by Marriot, an American group specializing in luxury hôtellerie, and, for this joint venture, Ikea will invest $ 500 million through its subsidiary, Inter Ikea.

The first hotel of the series will be inaugurated in Milan and should open to the public within a year.
