The Mayo Diet
The principle
The Mayo diet is an extremely restrictive low-calorie method that involves limiting the intake of calories to 1,000 per day, for 14 days.
The prohibited foods are numerous: condiments, sugars, starchy foods, legumes, almost all fruits (except grapefruit).
In this diet, grapefruit is part of the weight loss program, as it would help burn fat. And the same goes for eggs: this diet involves eating 6 per day. Rich in protein and low in calories, eggs have the advantage of filling you up, at least for a while.
Typical day
Breakfast: 1/2 grapefruit, 2 hard-boiled eggs, unsweetened coffee or tea, 1 rusk
Lunch: 2 eggs (cooked without fat) or 100 grams of meat, tomatoes at will, 1/2 grapefruit, coffee or tea without sugar
Dinner: 2 eggs, salad, celery, cucumbers at will, 1 rusk, unsweetened coffee or tea

The pros
It is a diet that is easy to put into practice and inexpensive, which does not require culinary preparations. With such a low calorie rate, weight loss is important.
The cons
This diet should not be followed for more than 14 days: by prolonging it, the metabolic system is endangered, as the caloric intake is insufficient for the body.
Deficiencies in protein, calcium, potassium and vitamins are inevitable.
This diet exhausts the body as it draws its energy needs from adipose (fat) tissues but also from the muscle and bone tissues.
Eggs contain cholesterol, which is bad for the cardiovascular system in the long run.
The feeling of hunger is strong.
The lost pounds are quickly regained at the end of the diet.
This diet is likely to make you hate eggs!
Attention
