In this regard, the testimony of Vincenzo Rialdi, President of Mapic, Federchimica's raw materials and cosmetic additives group, proved to be particularly interesting: "The old solvents are replaced with enzymatic catalysis processes that give us ethers and trans esters, basic components of the creams. cosmetic. Even the extraction of plant extracts has undergone a decisive change in a green key. Instead of cultivating seeds and medicinal plants from which to obtain the components chemically, we can exclusively cultivate the cells of the plant in crops and, by inserting them in photobioreactors, produce a large quantity of these cells from which to extract the pure active substance directly, reducing production steps and waste ".
