Interview / Sarah Felberbaum: "This is how my little Olivia changed my life!"
by Laura Frigerio
Sarah Felberbaum says she is happy. And it could not be otherwise, given that now a sweet little girl named Olivia has entered her life, born from her love story with the footballer Daniele De Rossi. The actress has taken a few months off, but is now ready to return to the track and, after a visit to the 71st Venice Film Festival (where she received the Kinéo Diamanti al Cinema Award as best supporting actress for the film A small southern company by Rocco Papaleo), will return to the set, but not alone ...
What does this comeback taste like?
A very sweet taste, since I started by collecting an award in Venice (which is always welcome, especially in the present day!) And now new work commitments await me, which I will face in a multitasking mother version.
Is it true that the trip to Venice was the first without your daughter Olivia?
Yes, it was the first time since she was born (February 14th) that they detached me from her and, I must admit, it was tough. I missed her so much and every time I heard a baby cry I would turn around thinking of her.
I understand that motherhood has changed you too ...
Olivia was strongly desired: I wanted to become a mother and when I found out I was pregnant I was in seventh heaven. Then I was lucky, because I also had a beautiful pregnancy, which I enjoyed fully. It is always said that motherhood changes and I must say that it is not an "urban legend": it is all true and I am realizing it as time passes. Now I have a different energy and sensitivity, which I will try to bring into my work as well.
How are you going to organize yourself? Now that you get back to work will you take the baby with you?
I am organizing to create a "network" that allows me both to work and to be next to her. Now, for example, I'm going to shoot the new episodes of The young Montalbano to Sicily and I'll take it with me, but of course I'll have to get help from grandmothers and babysitters. On the other hand, having a girl changes your perspectives and makes you make choices, even on the professional front. This means that, if 5 projects are proposed to me, I accept three, that is the ones I like best and cannot just give up. I can no longer do everything as before.
Do you think you will do more cinema or tv?
I believe that I will continue both, aiming for quality.
Have you ever been offered a web-series? Is it an experience that you would like to have?
Why not? This has never happened to me so far, but if the right thing came for me, I would accept on the fly. Every now and then I happen to see some and I must say that they are now high-level products: just think of An imperfect mom, which has moved from the web to TV and has even become a film.
Always talking about the internet, what relationship do you have with social networks?
They are wonderful from many points of view: they allow you to keep in touch and help those who want to promote themselves, the important thing is to know how to manage the situation and not to exaggerate. For example, on social media I show myself how I am in everyday life, I'm glad that my normality is visible and, at the same time, I try to protect my privacy. If I post a photo and I know that it will then become public, I do it with awareness: this is why I put more filters on Instagram because there are some shots that I would not want to circulate too much.
Do the paparazzi bother you?
Nobody bothers me. More than anything else, my partner and I lead such a quiet and common life, that we end up being unappetizing for gossip lovers !.
