The sperm crisis
The first, French, reveals that in recent years spermatozoa in thirty-five-year-olds have dropped by 32.2%.
The second, all Italian and conducted in Padua on a sample made up of 2000 individuals, half eighteen and half forty, found a 25% decrease in spermatozoa in the youngest compared to the figure found in adults.
The third, conducted in Northern Europe by researchers from the University of Edinburgh, showed that one in five young people have so low a sperm count that it interferes with their reproductive abilities.
The causes of this drastic decline would be essentially to be found in incorrect lifestyles such as overweight, chemical compounds contained in food, sedentary lifestyle, a high-fat diet and even active smoking or the damage inherited from a mother who smoked during pregnancy.
The good thing is that some of these causes are reversible. A balanced diet, exercise and refraining from practices such as smoking can certainly improve the situation.
