The definition:
One of the most accredited schools in Italy, the Milan Pole Dance Studio (which boasts Marion Crampe and Valeria Bonalume, respectively French and Italian champion 2012), explains that: "Pole dance is a discipline of the body that combines performance athletic dance movements to be performed with the support of a vertical pole. Grace, flexibility and physical strength are required. Through the pole you can twirl in the air to create choreographies, rise from the ground and defy the laws of gravity.
The origins:
To find the origins of pole dance you have to go a long way back in time, to the years of the North American depression, around 1920. The first to use the pole for their gymnastic performances were the circus performers. Pole dancing began. to get closer to what it is now around the 1950s, with the advent of burlesque, becoming a traveling night club show. Later it managed to get rid of some of this patina (which remained in lap dance) and was finally considered an athletic discipline , so much so that it has been practiced professionally both in the United States and in Australia, for 20 and 30 years respectively.
