Why are we gossip addicted?

They make us dream

The tabloid newspapers let us know the life of the stars who have always made us fantasize. We see them evolve in their glittering universe, where champagne flows in rivers, hairstyles are always flawless, smiles perfect and dazzling, invoices don't exist, the word "boredom" has been removed from the dictionary and love stories seem to have come out. from a movie. Their daily life resembles a huge and eternal party, in which we can participate in the space of a few pages. It is a way to forget the grumbling boss, the transport strikes and the little daily worries.

Dreaming of being pregnant - what does it mean?

Always in line with the latest trend, our dear celebrities become fashion and style models! They never missteps: they are icons backed by an army of look and image professionals.

Sienna Miller sporting a new fluorescent burlap bag? We want it too! Kate Moss decides to go topless in Lapland? We will go there too! Paris Hilton buys a parrot? We'll get two or three of them right away! In short, we do not miss any of the valuable information published by our favorite newspapers! Gossip newspapers are becoming the privileged place where new trends are born.

But be careful! Unfortunately we don't have the same budget as our star friends… and by dint of following their example, we risk going to ruin!

Furthermore, they have the means to be followed daily by a coach, a hairdresser, a make-up artist, a stylist… and even a cosmetic surgeon! So, we don't have to get complicated if we can't lose two kilos in three days or if our skin isn't as perfect as theirs!

They reassure us ...

The tabloid newspapers are not satisfied with showing the best part of the life of the stars, quite the contrary! They also enjoy revealing their depressions, their loss of weight or weight gains, their romantic breakups, their stays in detox centers, the deaths of loved ones ... and let's face it: we like to know all this information! We even buy special issues that exclusively publish the most sordid photos and stories.

Actually all of this reassures us, because it shows us that celebrities don't have such an easy life and we are happy with our peaceful existence! We also tell ourselves that, after all, even the stars are human beings like us, with problems of cellulite, infertility and with super complicated sentimental stories.

Be careful though! It is never right to rejoice in the misfortunes of others! We risk becoming cynical and insensitive. We wouldn't like it if the whole planet knew that our partner ran away with the pastry chef and that we just have to eat all the pastries!

They give us a neutral topic of conversation

No more sensitive topics that create tensions. During the coffee break, there is no longer any risk of unleashing World War III by talking about the decline in purchasing power, the return of furs to the catwalk, Italian troops in Afghanistan or pension cuts. By now, we have an argument that everyone (or almost everyone) agrees: Britney's latest header, yet another sentimental disappointment by Teri Hatcher, the latest humanitarian cause defended by Angelina Jolie. We exchange newspapers and tell each other the latest scoops. Finally we communicate a little!

But be careful! We try not to find ourselves with atrophied neurons, by dint of avoiding topics that really deserve to be addressed.

We are human!

Even as children, at school, we always wanted to know who said what. Later, in the office, we start wondering who's sleeping with who else and why her colleague has been crying for three days. Curiosity is part of us and we like to know what happens to our neighbors. If a newspaper published the scoops of the neighborhood, it would be snapped up!

If we focus on the private lives of stars, people we don't know personally, we feel less guilty. We have the impression that we are not harming anyone.

Be careful though! We could develop our curiosity until we no longer understand or accept the limit between public life and the private life of others, famous or not.

We have fun!

Gossip newspapers are cheap, easy and quick to read. They ensure a moment of uncomplicated relaxation. They browse with pleasure, everywhere, in a distracted way, and do not require much concentration.Be careful though! It is not the only type of newspaper! Faced with the growing interest of readers in the tabloid press, most of the newspapers are dedicating more and more space to the lives of the stars, to the detriment of the really important topics. To such an extent that we risk overdosing on gossip!
