This woman adopts terminally ill children to give them a worthy life

"The house of hope", this is how the house that Cori Salcher shares with her husband and her eight biological children is called. The woman has been welcoming and adopting orphans born with a terminal illness for 5 years now. For what purpose? give them all the love they deserve, albeit for a short time.
The "commitment made with these children" led her to found an NGO, "Hope after loss", with the aim of helping parents who lose their children after only a few days of life.

5 years ago Cori worked in a children's hospital in Wisconsin, the city where he lives. Many mothers gave birth but could not take care of the newborn because it was in too precarious conditions to survive. Her colleagues did not like having to deal with these children because they considered it too heartbreaking but she wanted at all costs that their last days of life were happy.

Cori got sick and had to quit her job. While she was resting at home, her colleagues phoned her and told her about an unnamed baby that no one wanted to take responsibility for.
It was a child born without a hemisphere of the brain and to whom the doctors gave only a few weeks to live. Cori decided to adopt her and, for 50 days, little Emmalynn received all the care a loving mother can give her and then died in the arms of this "nurse with a heart of gold."

Her nursing career helped her embark on this lonely project and, in October 2014, the family adopted Charlie, a seriously ill 4-month-old baby. To date, the child continues to live with Cori.

"For me it is a gift to be part of the life of these children, I can alleviate their suffering, appreciate and love them even if they cannot give me anything tangible, even if often they cannot give us a smile in exchange for our efforts": these are the words of Cori to Parents Today.
It is thanks to people like her that the world continues to turn in the right direction.
