Fuorisalone 2014: events not to be missed
The Salone del Mobile is approaching and with it the Design Week, or Fuorisalone, that is the corollary of more or less exclusive events, installations, exhibitions and parties that will populate the entire city of Milan from 8 to 13 April, no excluded zone!
Reporting all the appointments is really impossible, even if the Fuorisalone.it guide can give you a hand. We limit ourselves to offering you the initiatives that most impressed us and that we advise you not to miss.
For lovers of Northern European design, after the success of last year, Danish Crafts will repeat the MINDCRAFT exhibition, dedicated to the projects of Denmark's most talented designers and creatives, in the Lambrate area within the macro event Ventura Projects.
From the cold North, instead, we move on to exotic climates with the event From Bora Bora to Milan… Exotic Leisure Party - Dirk Bikkembergs meets Teuco, which will animate the Dirk Bikkembergs flagship store in via Manzoni 47 on the evening of Thursday 10 April from 7 pm to 10 pm, and will co-star the Teuco mini-pool range for the preview of the DB Beachwear Summer 2014 collection.
In via Tortona, 27, at Superstudio's Temporary Museum for New Design, next to the area at the base of the format, with installations by designers such as Nendo for Alcantara, Rashid for Lg Hausys and Jasper Morrison for Nikari Oy, there will be many new features including the SuperOrtoPiù, an "installation on the border between ecology, architecture, art and design, the Selected Objects exhibition curated by Giulio Cappellini and the special food design project by S.Pellegrino, with the participation of some of the best Italian chefs.

In the Porta Romana / Lodi area, at Cascina Cuccagna the Goodesign Up will be held, this year dedicated to children, protagonists of growth par excellence. On the days from 8 to 13 April, presentations, exhibitions, meetings, interactive workshops will alternate, all in the name of fair, eco-sustainable and socially responsible design.
But design and art will also be linked to beauty and in particular René Furterer, a specialist brand in high-end natural hair treatments, will organize an exhibition of the works of the artist Enrico Challier - known for his wooden sculptures of women from refined beauty - at the Ghìola salon in Milan, via Quintino Sella 2.
The combination of design and high tech is also interesting. Where is it? At the iStuff Factory, in via Marghera 26, which will open on 10 April with a cocktail party open to the public from 6 pm, which will host Syria, for the Resident DJ occasion. The event, organized by iStuff Milan, will be in collaboration with Jawbone Up, Mu, Bowers & Wilkins, Spike Case and Bad Spirit.
And between one stop and the next, why not indulge in a proper coffee break? Mumac Bee, the Piaggio Ape transformed into a traveling coffee bar, will travel the streets of the city stopping in the "hot" areas of Milan Design Week to give you an additional charge of energy and invite you to the Cimbali Group Coffee Machine Museum, for a evocative journey in the 1950s.
