This face develops to a similar extent both in height and in width. Those with a square (or square) face have a rather narrow and elongated shape: the forehead is high and the chin pronounced while the nose could be longer than average and the cheekbones rather flat. The square face does not lose its oval as the years go by, so it makes the years go by less noticeable. In some ways the square shape might look a bit harsh, that's why it will be softened and blunt with the right haircut.

2 - Round face
The round face is one of the easiest to recognize: the line of its outline forms an almost perfect circle, the oval is not angular, the cheeks are full and the cheekbones are rounded and never in evidence. Width and length are the same, with a usually very wide forehead. The ideal, for this type of face shape, is a defined make-up as well as a haircut. While on the one hand round and full faces have the advantage of looking younger, on the other hand the biggest "flaw" is the lack of definition and never as in the case of the round face, it will be useful to contour.

3 - Heart-shaped and reverse triangle face
We put the heart face and the reverse triangle face together, because they are very similar in features: large forehead, pointed chin and noticeable cheekbones. The only difference is that while the heart shape has a heart-shaped hairline, the inverted triangle face has a V-shape.
In the heart-shaped face, the cheeks are emptied and the jaw receding, so the main objective will be to rebalance the lower part of the face, which is smaller, with the upper one wider.

4 - Diamond face
The diamond face is often confused for heart face, but in reality the difference lies in the cheekbones which are more pronounced. The width of the latter prevails over the width of the forehead and jaw. This feature should not be hidden at all, but highlighted with the right haircut: the best are short and layered cuts.

5 - Oval face
The oval face, as the name already suggests, is longer than it is wide. The eyes have a distance from the hairline that is equal to the distance between the tip of the nose and the chin. Usually those with an oval face will notice how the shape becomes wider at the cheeks. One of the biggest advantages of having an oval shaped face is to be able to choose any type of cut as practically all styles will fit well.

6 - Oblong face
The oblong face develops much more in height, in some respects it is very similar to the oval-shaped one, but characterized by flat cheekbones and a very thin face overall. It needs to be visually shortened and filled in to rebalance the harmony of the various parts.

Face shape: take the test and find yours
Easy way to get your face shape
Print a close-up photo of your face, possibly with your hair pulled back. With a felt-tip pen draw a thick line to draw the outline. At this point, draw 4 lines with the help of a ruler:
- the first must pass through the hairline;
- the second, on the other hand, must be drawn at the base of the eyebrows;
- the third must pass through the center of the tip of the nose;
- the fourth and last will pass through the base of the chin.
Once you have created this pattern of lines on your face in the printed photo, you will need to measure the height of the different portions, which is nothing more than the distance between the horizontal lines drawn on the photo.
Write down everything and finally take the measurement of the entire face.
These measurements will be used precisely to identify the shape of the face. If it is longer than it is wide, it could be oval, oblong, heart / triangle or diamond shape; if, on the other hand, height and width are similar, the face will be round or square.
