Chronic fatigue: symptoms, causes and most effective remedies

Chronic fatigue is a complex disorder whose symptoms are flu-like and consist of a persistent sense of fatigue for which there seems to be no remedy, not even a good night's sleep.
The causes of chronic fatigue - also called, in scientific terms, "myalgic encephalomyelitis" - can be many and not always easily identifiable. According to statistics, this disorder mainly affects women between the ages of 40 and 50, although there are cases of chronic childhood fatigue.

There are some small remedies that you can introduce right away in your daily life to try to counteract the chronic fatigue syndrome and regain greater vitality. In these videos we suggest 5 of them: they are simple but super effective!

What are the symptoms of chronic fatigue?

The first symptoms of chronic fatigue are linked to a sense of fatigue and exhaustion that is impossible to relieve, despite the hours of sleep and rest. If you suffer from chronic fatigue, it will be difficult for you to find concentration and you may have some memory deficit or other disturbances due to mental fatigue.
Other symptoms are closely related to those of the flu and range from muscle pain to sore throat, from swollen lymph nodes to joint pain, to classic migraines and a general sense of weakness.
Unlike normal fatigue, chronic fatigue cannot be alleviated by simple rest and ends up worsening in the days following a particular mental or physical exertion.

There are many reasons why you may feel tired, but if the tiredness is not related to a change of season, nor does it seem to diminish for a prolonged period, it is better to see a doctor immediately to rule out other problems. Unfortunately, there is no specific test to diagnose this disorder and it will be necessary to proceed by differential diagnosis, i.e. by exclusion, making sure that it cannot be other disorders such as insomnia, depression, anxiety, anemia or diabetes.
If for adults it is recommended to see a doctor after a period of 6 months from the presence of the first symptoms, for the younger ones 3 are enough.

Chronic fatigue: the causes

The causes of chronic fatigue are unknown to date, although researchers have formulated some hypotheses. According to some, it could be a "viral infection, while for others the cause of chronic fatigue could be a problem with the immune system.
It was then found a link between chronic fatigue disorder and hormonal imbalance, so it is hypothesized that the two disorders may be linked.

Finally, one of the most accredited causes is the one that links chronic fatigue, with consequent muscular disorders, to a psychosomatic problem, since it is often people who have suffered severe stress or an emotional trauma who suffer from it.

The most effective remedies for chronic fatigue

What are the best remedies to cure chronic fatigue? Since the causes are unknown, there is no real therapy and the best cure at the moment is to alleviate the symptoms of the disorder as much as possible.
First, cognitive-behavioral therapy is recommended that can help those suffering from chronic fatigue to understand their disorder and recognize its symptoms, learning to accept them and live with them peacefully. A positive reaction of the psyche, especially if the causes are of a psycho-physical nature, is essential in order not to aggravate the symptoms.
Equally recommended is a therapy based on gradual exercise, which consists in guiding the patient in a path of physical rehabilitation by subjecting him to increasingly intense exercises and training. Week after week, the patient's body will begin to react positively, but you must not be in a hurry: it is important to alternate training days with others of rest, respecting your own rhythm.
Pharmacological treatment can also help: if it is chronic fatigue linked to depression, an antidepressant prescribed under the care of a psychotherapist can be a valid remedy, combined with good physical activity. If you have muscle pain, your doctor may prescribe a pain reliever.
Finally, a healthy diet is essential to reduce symptoms: avoid alcohol and coffee and do not overdo it with junk food. Use foods with particularly energizing properties, such as these:
