Open psychotherapy: the project in favor of the accessibility of psychological treatments
Psychological health is certainly no less important than physical health, but unfortunately many people give up on turning to a specialist for prices that are often not within everyone's reach. The Open Psychotherapy project was born from the desire to make psychological support accessible even to the less well-off sections of the population. To do this, it proposes a fundraiser that will finance the development of a site where you can collect the contact details of psychologists and psychotherapists who already offer lower rates (from 25 to 40 euros per session, against 60-100 euros for market rates).
Open Psychotherapy was therefore born under the banner of solidarity, with a social intent that involves many professionals who have long been determined to meet patients without great financial resources. In fact, families in difficulty (including children or adolescents), unemployed or precarious, those forced to live with forms of disability, those who simply do not have a sufficient income to be able to afford basic care for their psychological well-being and a better quality of life.
The professionals involved are both private individuals and members of groups or associations who have decided to invest in a low-cost project: all of them will dedicate part of their work to needy patients, in the hope of bringing some relief to a country like Italy. ours where public services fail to guarantee "adequate coverage with respect to the growing demand for psychological support by the population. And it is certainly not fair that only the wealthiest can take care of themselves ...
The objectives of the Open Psychotherapy project
The Open Psychotherapy project first of all has the objective of taking a census of all psychologists and psychoanalysts who already offer low-cost rates, in order to then act as a link between supply and demand. It will also collect data on the very demand for care of the less well-off and on the related private offers, to then move on to an "action of soliciting" public intervention and raising awareness of the problem.
On the website that will be opened it will be possible to find a list of all the professionals (and organizations) willing to dedicate part of their business to those who cannot afford the market rates, so that it is easy to find one available in your area and contact him.
Despite the nobility of the intentions with which the project was born, the promoters of Open Psychotherapy are well aware of the fact that they will not be able to fully satisfy the ever-increasing demand of those who need psychological support and that there will always be segments of the population excluded even from controlled rates that are already kindly proposed by the professionals involved.
This is precisely the reason why the solidarity initiative will not be limited to the portal, but will also carry out a public awareness and solicitation function, hoping that the situation will soon improve and the treatments will be truly available to everyone, as is right. that is.
Open Psychotherapy: How will donations be used?
At this link you will find all the useful information to contribute to the Open Psychotherapy project. The donations received will be used entirely for the implementation of the initiative we have described. No profit, therefore, but an investment for the development and maintenance of the web portal (hosting, developer and site maintenance costs).
The donations will also be used for printing expenses and for the organization of events and conferences that can make the project known to as many people as possible, spreading the initiative.

Why is psychological support so important?
Psychological support is essential to support a person who feels the need in moments of suffering or psychological distress, which can have the most disparate origins: from family vicissitudes (a bereavement, a separation, an abandonment) to problems related to having to face a disease (own or of those close to us), from problems of a sexual nature to those related to anxiety or panic attacks, from stressful situations to those of stalking and so on ...
In all these cases (and in many others too) there should be no shame in asking for help from a professional: it is not only important, but often essential to be able to live well. A psychologist or a psychotherapist can help us, through listening, to rework our suffering to guide us on the path of overcoming it, making us find the necessary resources within ourselves.
Do not hesitate, therefore, to seek psychological support if you feel the need! And soon positive phrases like these will become reality in your everyday life:
