A team of neurologists has found that sexual activity can lead to partial or complete relief of head pain in some migraines. The research, reported by the "International Headache Society, found that more than half of migraine patients who had sex during pain experienced improvement in symptoms. Apparently, sexual activity triggers the release of endorphins, the same natural pain reliever our body creates when we eat chocolate, which in turn can reduce or even eliminate a headache.

During the research, an anonymous questionnaire was sent to 800 patients suffering from migraine and 200 suffering from headache.Patients were asked to experience sexual activity during a headache attack and its impact on the intensity of the complaints. More than a third of migraine patients have tried sex during an attack and of these patients, two out of three reported an "improvement in their migraine attack"; three out of four reported average relief and one third reported worsening.
As for those suffering from headaches, 25% report an improvement in their condition. More than 70% reported moderate improvement, the remainder reported worsening.
