"The Pupa and the Nerdy and Vice Versa": a disqualification for violent acts

Carlotta Cocina and Giovanni Tobia De Benedetti reluctantly say goodbye to "Pupa and the Nerdy", a Mediaset program in which they had taken part respectively in the guise of Pupa and Secchione. The two were disqualified from the game following a confrontation that took place during the night, which does not go well with the sharing philosophy pursued by the television format. What initially might have seemed a harmless and sympathetic joke, has turned into a manifestation of first physical and then verbal inadmissible violence.

What happened in the night?

The weather had been tense for days. The pupa, in fact, had already shown a certain opposition towards some attitudes on the part of her partner, thus coming to address him the following words: "It happened that you did not want to sleep with me and you were free not to. I'm free not to want to sleep with you. I sleep in the bed, you sleep wherever you want. "When Carlotta, however, found De Benedetti in bed, ignoring the warning, she thought it best to resolve the issue with a deeply childish spite, going so far as to throw water on him while he was sleeping. At this point the nerd, wanting to continue with his sleep, took possession of the pupa's pillow and from here began a push and pull during which neither of the two has shown willingness to come to terms with the other. De Benedetti grabbed the girl by the wrist, who complained of pain without, however, being listened to. Carlotta, for her part, responded with heavy insults, addressing the int erlocutor epithets such as "head of c *** o" and closing the quarrel with the following unhappy exclamation: "now sleep on the ground, like a dog".

After the incident, the host Paolo Ruffini summoned all the couples to the living room to show them the full video of the incident. They all remain speechless. The presenter then issued the final sentence: “This is an anthropological experiment. You are here to compare and improve each other. In this case the "experiment failed and you are disqualified".

A necessary measure

A truly gruesome television episode, a show we never wanted to see that reminds us that violence has no gender or defined form. Unfortunately, it can be declined in many versions ranging from verbal attack to physical aggression and we must not assume that it is always women who are victims. The final measure could only be this.
