Find out how Giorgia Surina nourishes her inner strength
As many of you may have read in the interview with Karen P. or Titty & Flavia, Special K has commissioned a research to investigate how women define inner strength and what they experience of it. We went to visit Giorgia Surina and we had the opportunity to share this research with her, a determined woman who discovered, through a path of profound analysis, how to manage and feed her own inner strength also through music.
We started with a simple and direct question and asked her:
what does your inner strength consist of? What meaning do you attribute to it?
The latest News Nicolas Vaporidis and Giorgia Surina: near divorce Giorgia SurinaI believe that inner strength is a kind of inner resource that you sometimes unknowingly draw on. There are situations in which you have to grit your teeth to move forward, to find something you know you cannot find outside. It's something that snaps into us as a kind of survival instinct, a wild card that you play when you really run out of resources. It comes out like that, from the solar plexus, from that point in the body where energy is produced, because you have none elsewhere in the rest of the body.

Slowing down, in silences, in complex moments, because there I can understand where to go and get it. Inner strength is a very intimate and personal thing. Some women rediscover it in sport, which turns into an energy attack point, where they can recharge. For example, I can feel the inner strength even doing yoga, meditation.I tried to find a kind of balance in nothing, in silence.
Also thanks to these activities, in the moments when I felt that I needed strength, I realized that I should look for it in myself and not outside, even looking over my shoulder. I think back to the past when I moved to London at 22 to start MTV. That was a strong experience, I felt disoriented also because I had decided to go and live alone and not together with all the other Italians. There I discovered the importance of music in my life. From then on, music has always been there, and it has been a means to exorcise difficult moments and find energy, perhaps after a tiring day spent studying and working. Or he kept me company, since I was far from everyone and from family. It gave me a way to focus attention. So to find the strength I take refuge in music, in those songs that I associate with beautiful and purposeful moments. Thus I nurture my inner strength.
From the research of Special K it emerged that inner strength is just as important as happiness, and more than outer beauty. What do you think about it? Do you believe that inner strength is as important as happiness?
Often I prefer to talk about serenity rather than happiness, which is a denser thing, while happiness is made up of peaks, like high notes in music, which cannot last forever. For me, inner strength comes more from serenity, from the balance that I also achieve thanks to music, and it is a status in which I bask, like a water mattress on which you float. Today more than ever we are dealing with a fast reality, which affects our daily life, we are always with mobile phones in hand. In music I find an element of relaxation, which dilates time and feeds me. Here, finding your nourishment and understanding when you need it, that can make you achieve happiness.
So you talk to us about music as an engine of inner strength. You know, research shows that many women fail to unleash their inner strength and turn it into action. What is your experience? What awareness do you have of your inner strength and what role does this play in your life? What lever do you use to release your inner strength?
This is more complex to explain, it is more of a work in progress, it can be reached after a lot of personal analysis. In general, I associate inner strength with awareness. I feed on my thoughts, I just let them go. The answers come if you find your way to know yourself, and I also find it in the work I do. In acting it is very important, to get to the verisimilitude, the knowledge of oneself. The more you know yourself, the more you can get away from yourself or take your things and work them.
Of course, going deep can hurt because you touch uncovered spots. But in this way you understand what your challenge is and discover a driving force that pushes you to win. To free my inner strength, I face a journey inside that makes me discover crazy worlds and face difficulties with my head held high.
Feeding thoughts and inner strength makes us think about food. What role does food - and breakfast - play for you in fueling your mental and physical strength every day?
This question makes me smile. Since I was a little girl I have had a volcanic strength and activity, my mother called me tsunami. I have always associated with food something that made me feel good, something that gave me the energy to do everything I wanted and had to do, I would have eaten the world! I feel when my body needs to feed and I find a disrespect not to give it what it needs. Later this thing also became mental, I realized that my mind and my soul also need to feed. I feed on many things, light, sun, music, friendship.
Besides, I can't leave the house without having breakfast. I try to figure out who can do it, who goes down to have breakfast at the bar. I have to do my own thing at home, water and lemon, herbal teas, cereals, dried fruit, I eat a lot! For me, that is to nourish myself, on a physical level, but also to nourish myself with a fundamental moment. I need to start the day in the best possible way, to incorporate all the energies that give me strength, both physical and mental.
There is a lot of speed around us, we need to know each other and understand what makes us feel good, and have the courage to do it. Because sometimes, away from tiredness and laziness, you have to break the barrier and start.
