Facial gymnastics: 5 exercises to tone the face and neck
In addition to specific creams, a healthy lifestyle and an adequate beauty routine, we have another effective tool available to combat wrinkles and preserve our skin from the action of time.
We are talking about facial gymnastics, or face building, which, through specific exercises for each part of the face, allows you to tone the muscles of the face, increasing the elasticity of the skin and carrying out an effective anti-aging action.
In order to see concrete results, however, it is necessary to dedicate yourself to it every day for at least 10-15 minutes, integrating this important gesture into our daily skin care ritual.
Whether in the morning or in the evening, before proceeding with the anti-wrinkle exercises that we will see below, dedicate yourself to pleasant lymphatic drainage self-massages for the face: in addition to being regenerating and relaxing detox moments, they will promote microcirculation, oxygenating the skin and preparing it for subsequent steps.
The benefits of facial gymnastics
As anticipated, facial gymnastics, also called yoga of the face, acts on the muscles of the face (we have 70 of them!), Helping them not to yield and to remain more toned and elastic; in this way it helps to effectively prevent excessive skin relaxation, caused by the natural loss of collagen and elastin over time and primarily responsible for the formation of wrinkles and fine lines.
In addition to having an important anti-aging role, helping to redefine our oval and reshape its contours in a natural way, this type of gymnastics also allows us to intervene on the skin's complexion. In fact, by stimulating the blood microcirculation, it will re-oxygenate the tissues, lighting up the complexion and giving a brighter and more uniform complexion.
At what age is it good to start?
It is not necessary to have mature skin to be able to dedicate yourself to it: you can start with this virtuous beauty habit from the age of 20 upwards, to prevent the appearance of the first signs of aging and to begin to train effectively all the muscles of the face, living on income for the future.
So here are 5 facial gymnastics exercises for each part of the face: dedicate yourself consistently every day and in a short time you can only see considerable improvements in terms of elasticity, tone and brightness.
1. Exercises for the eye area
It is one of the most vulnerable areas and one of the first ever to be touched by the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Here is a series of exercises to preserve the entire eye area.
To combat wrinkles and crow's feet
Close your eyes, place your index fingers on the outer sides and pull the skin towards the temples (like Chinese eyes, so to speak). Hold the position for at least 20 seconds, then let the muscle relax and repeat the exercise 10 times .
Exercise against dark circles
Blink for about a minute, keep them closed for 10 seconds, trying not to frown. Focus on breathing and relaxing your face. Repeat this 10 times.
To prevent soft and droopy eyelids
Place the index fingers under the browbones to keep the skin still, now try to close your eyes by feeling the resistance of your fingers. Do a series of ten, pause for a moment and repeat it ten more times.
2. Gymnastics for cheeks and cheekbones
Balloon exercise
Put your hand in front of your mouth, puff your cheeks, keep the air in and after twenty seconds, release and take a breath. Repeat all 10 times.
Now do it with one cheek at a time: inflate the left, hold the position for a count of 20 and continue 10 times. Do the same with the right one.
To close, continue with the movement, alternating cheeks at higher speed, 10 times.
Exercises for the cheekbones
Put your index fingers in the cheekbone area, smile and return to the normal position. Repeat the gesture for at least two minutes. You will feel your fingers move - it is the muscle that is working.
3. Exercises for lips, smile lines and nasolabial area
Mouth contour and smile lines
1. Spread out the corners of your mouth, as if you were smiling, but keeping your lips together; hold the pose for ten seconds, return to the starting position and repeat the exercise for about two minutes.
2. Pronounce an O and hold the position for a few seconds, then go on to pronounce the A and continue with the O-A game for about ten times.
3. Insert your index fingers in the corners of your mouth, push your fingers outwards and at the same time make resistance with your cheeks. Hold the position for 20 seconds.
Exercise for the nasolabial area
Lift your upper lip and bring it down with a quick, uninterrupted motion, trying to hold the lower lip in place. You will see that to do this, you will also move the tip of the nose slightly. Do it for two minutes or even longer if you find it useful.
This anti-wrinkle exercise is very effective for training the subnasal sulcus or Cupid's arch, where classic barcode wrinkles can easily appear over the years.
4. Anti-aging exercise for the forehead
Place a hand on your forehead to keep it still and avoid forming the classic wonder lines. Now push your eyebrows up and repeat the exercise 10 times.
5. Chin and neck
Specific exercises for the chin and jaw
1. Tilt your head back, looking up. Move your jaw up and down continuously for 20 seconds.
2. Now bring your head back and lift your jaw upwards by pushing your chin forward, in order to bring your lower teeth in front of the upper dental arch. In this way the muscles will stretch: hold the position for 20 seconds and return to the starting position and continue for about ten times.
After finishing, open your mouth, as if you were yawning - this is a relaxation technique.
Against the double chin
Open your mouth, put a fist under the chin, close your mouth - and then push down - while the fist pushes upwards, making resistance. Repeat ten times.
Exercises to tone the oval of the face
Tilt your head back, first turn it to the left, bringing it towards the shoulder and maintaining the position for about 20 seconds, and then do the same to the right.
Repeat this for about ten times.
To tone the neck and prevent Venus rings
First of all, perform these three simple steps to activate the microcirculation and avoid the formation of the classic Venus rings that can appear over the years:
- quickly swipe the palm of your hand over the entire surface of the neck, from bottom to top a few times
- pinch your neck, always starting from the bottom upwards
- finally tap the entire surface with your fingertips
Now let's proceed with the actual exercise:
Bring your head back, return to the starting position and push it down, you will feel the muscles stretch.
Do the same sideways, first to the right and then to the left. Repeat this for ten times, taking care to make gentle and slow movements.
