European elections: the PD chooses five women as leaders. Find out who I am

Elections for the renewal of the European Parliament will be held on 25 May, and of course Italy, as a member state of the European Union, will also have to express its elected representatives. The Italian parties are organizing the lists these days, and yesterday the nominations as leaders of the Democratic Party of five women were made official, one for each constituency.

2. Alessandra Moretti

Alessandra Moretti is a PD candidate as leader in the North East constituency (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto, Emilia Romagna). She is a marriage lawyer, and was Deputy Mayor of Vicenza and also Councilor for Youth Policies. She entered Parliament with the 2013 general elections, and since then she has made pink quotas in local authorities her strong point. He also has expertise in education, and is currently on the Justice Commission.

3. Simona Bonafè

Simona Bonafè is the PD leader candidate in the Central district (Tuscany, Lazio, Umbria, Marche). She was Councilor for the Environment in the municipality of Scandicci, in Tuscany, until 2013. She too, like Alessandra Moretti, was elected deputy in the 2013 general elections. Science and Education, and then Productive Activities, Commerce and Tourism, a task that it still carries out today.

4. Pina Picierno

Pina Picierno leads the PD list for the Southern constituency (Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia). She was elected deputy in 2008, and re-elected in 2013. The issues most dear to her are those of legality, the fight against organized crime and young people. In fact, she was appointed legality manager in the PD secretariat by Guglielmo Epifani, and still is, with the leadership of the party passed to Matteo Renzi.

5. Caterina Chinnici

Caterina Chinnici leads the PD list of the Islands district (Sicily and Sardinia). She has been a magistrate since 1979, and is the daughter of Rocco Chinnici, who was killed by the mafia in 1983. After a career in the Juvenile Courts, she became regional councilor for the family, before moving to the civil service in 2012.In the same year she became head of the Juvenile Justice Department.
